Do you think this is acceptable from Tesco Direct?

I used my voucher exchange to get some toys (just exchanged a tenner of vouchers for £20 to spend online on toys) and ordered five things to pick up in store. Three came in bags - all fine. Two were boxed toys and they stuck the delivery note directly onto the box so the box is now mainly delivery note - it is ultra sticky and won't come off and there is no way I can give these as presents.

Am currently on the phone to their customer services but am so annoyed - even if they were not presents I would like my dd to have a box where she can see th epicture on the front.

Is this reasonable?

Personally it wouldn't bother me in the slightest.

AngelWreakinHavoc · 14/11/2012 10:51

Why did You leave the store then decide to call customer services?

seventyeight · 14/11/2012 10:54

Because the man serving me said all he could do was call the same number I could call and after he'd been on hold for ten mins I had to leave so I could pick my daughter up from nursery on time. Have already been on hold to them for 15 mins myself this am (at 8p a minute!) so have now just hung up and am emailing them

I've never met a kid who would reject a toy because the box is damaged

starswirlthebearded · 14/11/2012 10:57

You could also try contacting them via Twitter, they usually respond quickly.

seventyeight · 14/11/2012 11:01

Oh twitter is good idea will try that. Thank you.

Thing is the kids might not mind but I mind - as a giver it now looks like a shabby present not a nice thought out one. But also I do think the box is important because this is the kind of toy you would keep in the box always and take out to play with, not the kind where the box would get thrown away after being opened.

I think it happens when they take the orders from the shelves in the shop so if that's the case and they have them in stock I'd ask them to exchange them for those in store tbh.

penguinplease · 14/11/2012 11:38

This happened to me too with 5 items but the labels come off easily and leave no marks, is it really worth complaining about, just get them off and don't worry about it!

izzyishavingababyAGAIN · 14/11/2012 11:40

I wouldnt like it, if the label wont come off easily Id take it back and ask for swap

caffeinated · 14/11/2012 12:10

I had the same and it annoyed me.

MrsCantSayAnything · 14/11/2012 12:15

Put the phone down and stop sweating the small stuff. Really.

Durab · 14/11/2012 12:21

I'd mind too, I'd know it was silly to mind, but I would mind. Generally things are reduced if the box is damaged, so the shops know people mind too.
