Christmas Books for a 7 year old

I'm looking for some recommendations. DS enjoys reading, and I don't want to miss out on sharing a Christmas book with him just because he's 7.

He's a pretty good at reading, he's onto Roahl Dahl novels at school. However his favourite leisure read is Captain Underpants.

I am only in the UK for 2 days, so I need to go armed to shop with a good list.

Are there any good Christmas themed reads for boys at that age that wise MNers can recommend?

my son has his eye on "the dinosaur that pooed xmas"-a picture/sharing story

waterstones have some books about the lonely brussel sprout-kind of cartoon styly but my ds thought it was funny

btw he is also 7

this is my favourite book ever. It is expensive but is a lovely book to read together and my 3 dcs love it as much as I do!

That sounds right up his street. I'll definitely look up those two.

He loves sprouts, and I have the Vicar of Dibley to thank for that. He's always doing the sprout eating challenge with DH!

I really value the recommendations - I won't have time for a good browse, and it's nice to hear about books that kids have genuinely enjoyed.

Anchovies - that sounds lovely, the reviews were great. Do you think it will be possible to buy it in Waterstones or WH Smith, these are the only 2 bookshops I know in Brighton (visiting family)?
