Christmas hamper to the US

I have an American friend who lives in Albequerque and I would like to send her a hamper for Christmas for her and her family.

As you can imagine- this will be a very mini hamper as I'm expecting postage to cost a bomb and I'm also on a budget of £40 including p&p.

I was thinking-
Nice drinking cocoa.
Wooly winter socks for her, DP and her DD aged 1
Jam.
English style sweet shop sweets.
A decoration for their tree
Maybe a hairband for the baby (before the pearl clutching her DD has a beautiful dark bob- not a bald head!)
Christmas cookie cutters
A box of nice tea or Christmas coffee

This is the first time I've sent something so far away, and I'm still bit nervous about taxes and the cost of postage. If someone could let me know how much round abouts it would cost to send a shoebox sized parcel, and how to protect it that would be great!

Also hints on other things to put in it that would be sendable and low cost!

If it's gift there won't any hefty customs.
I think you could easily pay £20+ to post that lot, because of the weight not the volume, sadly.
