It's £9.99 and they're advertising it on their website.

I guess at that price I could try it in the next few weeks anyway Grin, but just wondered if anyone tried it last year?

Too cheap to be true or a barry delicious bargain?

I've not tried the Aldi one but I have tried one someone made themselves and it was horrible so it's kind of put me off

sheeplikessleep · 11/11/2012 10:12

Hmm, maybe the idea is nicer than the reality

It's ok actually, quite tasty had it a couple years ago for Xmas dinner.

sheeplikessleep · 11/11/2012 10:14

I think I'm going to get it in for next weekend for a trial taste!

Four birds for £9.99? What kind of life did those birds have, and for that matter, the farmer too?

MrsBovary · 11/11/2012 10:46

£9.99! How on earth do they manage that?

Our local butcher sells them for approx £70.00. I can't imagine the quality of the Lidl is great at that price.

Binfullofmaggotsonthe45 · 11/11/2012 16:47

It's quite small and not exactly the Hugh Fearnley version. So it's slightly more processed rather than deboning several birds and rolling them together.

My husband always wants one.

What will they do for £15.00 - start with a Hummingbird inner and end up with a Swan outer? Grin

barry delicious?? Do all adjectives have christian names??

MsElleTow · 11/11/2012 16:57

We've had them at Easter a few times. They are nice, but they don't go far TBH. I have DH, 2 teen DSes and I and I don't think we have left overs. I might get 2 and pop them in the freezer just incase I CBA by the time Christmas gets here!

picnicbasketcase · 11/11/2012 16:58

I thought the one I tried was philip disgusting.

threeineachlobe · 11/11/2012 17:01

That's cyril interesting.

noddyholder · 11/11/2012 17:02

Just cooked a sunday lunch with aldi stuff and it was revolting! My ds and dp love my roasts and I quite enjoy cooking them but everything was awful. I should have walked the 2 mins to sainsburys lazy bones!

picnicbasketcase · 11/11/2012 17:03

Thank you for the kevin compliment.

ValiumQueen · 11/11/2012 17:03

I thought it was Freddie gorgeous. We have the three or four bird roast each year. I am on a tight budget, and make a fancy sauce to go with it.

newtonupontheheath · 11/11/2012 17:09

The stuffing is too salty for my liking and there is too much of it.

Me and DH had one and it did us plus sandwiches the next day, so doesn't go very far. Unless you like a shed load of stuffing...

threeineachlobe · 11/11/2012 17:10

Steven stuffing.

picnicbasketcase · 11/11/2012 17:12

Anything can be improved with a big load of raymond sprouts though.

notusualsuspect · 11/11/2012 17:14

I think you need to cover it with plenty of Gary gravy.

AntoinetteCosway · 11/11/2012 17:18

Noddy really? We just had one of their free range chickens for the first time for lunch (chicken pot roast) and it was delicious!

Feckbox · 11/11/2012 17:21

yes, it was nigel nice

whistlestopcafe · 11/11/2012 17:23

We had the £10 one from Tesco last year and I have to say it really was delicious.

Nagoo · 11/11/2012 17:30
Grin
noddyholder · 11/11/2012 17:36

Veg tasteless and chicken not as good as sainsburys. Potatoes mostly had to be thrown as were black in the middleNever again

threeineachlobe · 11/11/2012 17:58

Its a real martin mixed bag, innit.

sheeplikessleep · 11/11/2012 19:33

Hmm, I think I'll stick with our Sainsbury's turkey then!
Still, I might try it on a Sunday just to see what it's like.
Thanks all for posting!
