Can you suggest a good first board game for a 4.5 year old

Should probably be ashamed to admit this, but I have never played a board game with my 4.5 year old DD.

Think she is ready now.... good enough concentration span, can count, loves trying to read (though only just starting).

I can only think of Snakes and Ladders, but am sure the market must have expanded a bit in the 30 or so years since I first got a board game (there was Ludo on the back of the board, possibly the most boring game in the world!)

So, any suggestions? And preferably something that grownups might enjoy too (or at least be prepared play for an hour or so! Grin)

Oh, and 2 year old DS will be around, so something he could do too, or at least won't destroy, would be great!

DD1 is 4 and is a board game fiend!

Orchard games are good. Educational too. We have quite a few and more coming for xmas.
Snakes and ladders is good. You can get Dora/Peppa pig themed ones now too.

Santa is bringing Pop up Pirate for xmas too.

Also have lots of games from ELC. Not exactly 'Board' games in the traditional sense but games that are easy to play and fun.
Jitterbugs is a fav as is manic martians(think Whack attack!) and the Bee game (think Kerplunk). They quite often have theses on offer too.

Other games she loves are lotto type games. this get played at least once EVERY day!!

Should of added that I have a 2.5 yr old DD too.
She likes to play games with DD1 and the ones she joins in with and actually 'gets' are

Jitterbugs
Bee game
Manic martians

By ELC

She loves the sound lotto too and enjoys copying the animal sounds.

Orchard games are fab - she prob uses them at nursery so they would be familiar.
