Leappad 2 recharger pack

Can someone tell me if I need one of these? I'm getting the Leappad 2 for dd1, but I'm confused as to whether the recharger pack is necessary. Will ordinary batteries run out ridiculously fast?

I'm sure I could look this up, but I have a 14 week old and am sleep deprived!

yes batteries will run out fast my friend has got a normal aa battery charger and batteries to go with it. I think it was only £10 and included 4 aa rechargable energiser batteries it was from argos

Thanks, I think dh may have an AA charged, so that's that sorted then! Think I'd better order this thing soon, I hear the electronic gifts are selling fast this year!
