I got the Hobbit for DH last year.

Dd has had a Fairy Book for birthday and Christmas for the last few years.
She still loves them at 12 and although they are pricey they are an heirloom she can pass on to her own children (or grandchildren even).

In Helmsley there's a bookshop which has a little wall of Folio Society books- still quite pricey, but much better!

I think I may buy the secret garden for me DD, she is too young to appreciate it just now, so I'll look after it for her.

Yes they are truly lovely and they come in slip cases which means they are protected for handing on.
