Just had an email from nectar confirming. It's listed as "up to half price" sale so not everything will be half price, but everything will be reduced by some amount.

Anyone know if it's worth hangin on?

oreocrumbs · 24/10/2012 00:15

I'll give it another 10 mins then I'm off to bed. Have to get up early. DB has been taken into hospital and have to go and retrieve his car before they clamp it in the morning. He is ok though.

Triggles · 24/10/2012 08:20

Went on and looked. It seems quite a lot of it is only 1/3 off, rather than 1/2 off. I'm disappointed. I checked Tesco's "biggest toy sale ever" online and there are a few 1/2 off, but some are £10 toys only £1 off..so 10%. Not a hugely impressive toy sale there either. Hmm

armani · 24/10/2012 08:32

Just looked online and they have some bargains, although not as good as last year.
Hello kitty cool cards for £11.99
Numerous lego sets with a third off
Lots is not out of stock though.

milk · 24/10/2012 08:48

How disappointing!

The only toy worth getting was the Barbie Train to Trot Tawny for £27.49 but that was sold out at 2am so people who sleep had no chance :(

HGAFC · 24/10/2012 09:03

Tonnes of preschool stuff in store. Poor DS had his fingers jammed between trolleys by some dickhead who accused him of trying to nick Lego out of his trolley... DS is 9.5 months FGS!

gleemama · 24/10/2012 10:11

HGAFC Shock Your poor DS. Hope he is ok.
I went this morning, the shop was empty, nothing like last year. Most stuff only 25% off and by the time you factor in that Sainsburys charge the original RRP, your better off getting it elsewhere. Got some hot wheels bits for DS. A hamma beads set for DD and some lego. They said they had more stuff in the back, ready to put out, but couldn't say what.

Onlyhappywhenitrains · 24/10/2012 10:14

I have just returned, they had a few sylvanian things half price but they were selling quite fast. Some of the animals and I think the windmill? I got an imaginext batman car with a third off and a half price matchbox police playset. It was quite busy, lady said they were queuing to get in this morning. Most Playmobil gone, but it was half price.

snickers251 · 24/10/2012 10:20

Just been and got some pretend play bits for a few quid Grin

Glad I went early, it's a fight to get in my local one!

OhTheConfusion · 24/10/2012 10:27

My local one only had a few bits worth getting too... a nerf gun and a snail xylophone (both 1/2 price) but many of the items were still a good bit cheaper on Amazon or our local toy shop.

Popping up to Glasgow this afternoon so may try the bigger store.

ENormaSnob · 24/10/2012 12:19

Glad I didn't bother tbh.

Doesn't sound as good as previous years.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 24/10/2012 12:25

i stumbled on it by mistake, and was quite pleasantly surprised. There was still plenty of stock at 10.30. Only problem was I had both DDs with me, so had to keep distracting them as i slid things into the trolley and under the bags of cat litter.
in the half-price bit i got a doll's buggy for £2.50, a sylvanians set for a fiver, and some Barbie clothes.
we also laid down a couple of My little pony sets and some Lego Friends kits for birthday parties this year.

sunnyday123 · 24/10/2012 17:41

I do wander how much of it was a sales pitch to just get you in the shop! I was after much of the barbie stuff inc the cruise ship. Myself and several friends have been to my closest 6 sainsburys between us and all shops said they haven't had it in and have no intention of ever getting it!! Seems a waste of effort so not bothering next time. A lot of it was playboy and moons and which is cheap as chips income bargains etc anyway. I bet they only had a handful of the good stuff!

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 24/10/2012 18:06

sunny, they had the cruise ship at my local sainsburys in North Manchester if that's any help

Marne · 24/10/2012 18:12

I bought dd2 a few hello kitty its ut was disapointed when i checked Amazon a minute ago and they have reduced a lot of their toys, i could have got hello kitty cool cardz cheaper on Amazon. So not everything is a bargain, best to check Amazon before buying.

sunnyday123 · 24/10/2012 18:52

Clearly I never meant playboy! Oops! Play doh and moon sand!

Thanks Charlotte but yes it's a bit far from me :)

rhondajean · 24/10/2012 19:05

It was all very civilised at my local ainsbos this morning!

A few people with full trolleys, but everyone saying sorryand excuse me and let me pass you that.

Beats last year hands down...

On the down side, I went to bed when the site crashed and when I got up the Barbie closet was put of stock. I then swithered over the monster high school with 25% off, was still £68, decided to go for it at lunch and it was out of stock.

You can however set the website to email you if they come back into stock so fingers crossed.
