What's yours?

Mine is Fairytale of New York, and favourite movie is Love Actually. I also love those cheesy made for tv Christmas movies Blush

Song: there's only one.
The Pogues version of "FairyTale of New York" (not the Ronan Keating one. I hear the first couple of notes, my hope rises. Then I realise I've been conned and I feel stabby)

Film: "Love Actually"

loubielou31 · 24/10/2012 13:02

Film - Elf

Song - Walking in a winter wonderland, (or Santa Baby.)

I keep thinking I should make my own Christmas music compilation with the original versions of almost everything and that way I can avoid all the remixed tutty rubbish.

ShabbyChit · 24/10/2012 16:27

Film: Santa Claus the Movie (Childhood favourite, exactly how I imagine Santa and his workshop!)
Song: can't decide - it's a toss up between Fairytale of New York (I find the musical parts so wistful and romantic) or I believe in Father Christmas by Greg Lake (Reminds me of my childhood and my dad singing it on his guitar) again, love the musical parts.
Also all I want for Christmas by Maria is guaranteed to get me in the Christmas party spirit!
Oooh I love christmas! Yay!

mignonette · 24/10/2012 16:29

I love Mickey Rooney in 'Home For Christmas'.
Also 'Christmas With The Kranks' and Danny De Vito in 'Deck The Halls'

Alongside the more well known films 'Miracle on 34th St', 'Its A Wonderful Life', 'Santa Claus 1,2 and 3'.....

mignonette · 24/10/2012 16:31

oh and 'The Grinch'.

Song? The Eagles version of 'Please Come Home For Christmas'

TommeeTipsy · 24/10/2012 16:45

Another one here for Fairytale of New York. I also really like the Doris Day Christmas album and her version of walking in a winter wonderland although we sing walking round in women's underwear...

Film has got to be The Snowman.

WritePear · 24/10/2012 22:30

The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey (makes me cry)
Polar Express (makes me cry)
Elf (makes me laugh)

Song - has to be that old chestnut... The Christmas Song by Nat King Cole, sat infront of an open fire, glass in hand...... can't wait...... roll on Christmas.

CherryMonster · 24/10/2012 22:45

i dont think i can choose. i love everything about christmas (except the cost) and love almost all songs and films about it. best films probably miracle on 34th street or christmas with the kranks, song maybe all i want for christmas or santa baby. not sure though

CheerfulYank · 24/10/2012 23:07

Judy Garland singing "Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas."

Film...hmmm! I love so many! Arthur Christmas was so lovely, also love Love Actually. And I always watch Little Women while wrapping presents.

But I think it's got to be the 1994 Miracle on 34th Street.

CheerfulYank · 24/10/2012 23:11

I've never heard Fairytale of New York before! I love it. :)

Inertia · 25/10/2012 08:52

Favourite song is Just Like Christmas by Low.

Film - It's a wonderful life.

RhiRhi123 · 25/10/2012 16:33

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 26/10/2012 18:39

Mary's Boy Child by Boney M
In Dulce Jubilo by Mike Oldfield
Little Drummer Boy by David Bowie and Bing Crosby

DH loves Fairytale of New York, I can't stand it, makes my teeth go on edge (and I'm talking about the Pogues/McColl version, didn't know there was any other)

Film - haven't seen most of those listed (not a big film watcher) but I do like Love Actually.

littlemefi · 26/10/2012 18:45
