Selling toys to make space for new ones?

I feel bad! Ds has so much stuff though that some has to go. We have a massive lot of geotrax that rarely comes out. Ds likes it but it takes up so much space and he has a Thomas track and a tomy hypercity track too. If I sell it he will probably not notice but I still feel bad about it. If he sees it going he will be devastated because as I said he does like it but because it is so space consuming I rarely get it out, and he won't settle for part of it coming out, it's all or nothing. So mostly it is nothing! I have a few other toys in this category, should I just bite the bullet and get rid? I am scared that if I don't my carpet may disappear entirely after the new influx of Christmas gifts.

I'm having similar problems at the moment!! I would suggest that you start by taking your DS and one of the smaller toys to Argos to get the £5 voucher just so he sees the benefit of 'giving away' some of his toys.
Then bag some up (including the really big one!) and storing them in a cupboard/wardrobe and see if he actually misses them. Once they've been out of sight for a while, decide how you're going to get rid of them
I'm in the picking my battles camp at the moment and I'm thinking that if some of them have to stay then so be it, Christmas will be naff if none of the expense makes up for the loss of something she really misses, or, even worse - I have to buy something I got rid of to appease her!!

I do the same every year, this year theres not that much that does not get played with, the sylvanian families went a few months ago and no one has noticed and i got rid of the bakugan. Luckily this year dd1 does not want any plastic tat so i dont need to make too much room.

I am living for the day my DD tells me she doesn't want any tat for Christmas!! Role on the 'just give me cash and a really expensive gadget this year mam!'

I do it - I already have a playmobil castle on and am about to list a whole pile of little tykes stuff - we simply don't have the space and tbh I find if they have too much they don't play with it

i am currently debating this. my girls have a ton of sylvanian families stuff which they have never really grown into. they like the little figures, but they have tons and several large buildings. am debating whether to sell them or not, and wondering what i would get for them if i did

I'm trying to be brutal but struggling. Not sure where to draw the line. If its been ignored for a month or so do you think it is safe to get rid of? I agree if they have too much stuff they don't play very well with it, they just get overwhelmed. My living room is pretty overwhelmed with stuff too to be honest.

its the amount of it though, literally 4 or 5 large buildings, tons of small set and loads of figures. dunno if i can be arsed with photographing it all.

cherrymonster why not look onn ebay for rough idea of cost, drop by 5 percent or so and then see if your local newspaper has any free ads. You don't get quite as much but no insertion fees under 50 quid here and you don't need to photograph and is all cash on collection. Could sell in lots or all together.

cherry borrow an iPhone to do it - the eBay app is a doddle to sell on - also netmums nearly new isgreat for selling and there isn't the hastle of packaging ditto to gumtree
