Ideas for gifts to send to NZ please!!

Hi have lots of family in New Zealand - grandparents, SIL and BIL and niece and nephews. The cost of posting things there is so expensive and I am keen on alternate ideas/small packages. We already do a subscription for a grandpa renewed annually. What other ideas do you all do for family overseas?

My DSis lives in NZ and whenever she comes back to the UK or someone goes over (I haven't been to NZ) they take back Cadburys Dairy Milk.
But -
I'd imagine it would be ££ to send and it's changed taste now, so might not be what they remember.

My best friend lives in Australia. I've got her a purse this year.
Other things I've given in the past are notelets, jewellery, book.

She often gets flowers delivered to me. Or orders presents on uk sites to be delivered directly to me. But she has a uk account which I think is what makes these things possible

Nieces would probably love some Claire's Accessories stuff...things like that are much pricier here.
Some small easy to post stuff from Hawkins Bizarre (sp) for the kids.

No specific gift ideas but The Book Depository do free delivery to NZ and at the moment M&S are doing it as well. Sometimes amazon do it too, if you keep an eye out.

How old are the nieces and nephews? Dressing up outfits are light to post but have the 'wow' factor.

When we lived in NZ my kids used to love receiving Galaxy chocolate selection boxes from rellies back in the UK .Chocolate in NZ doesn't taste the same and this was their fave thing to ask for .

All DH's siblings live abroad. V.thoughtful BIL got me an Amazon voucher last year, which I really enjoyed using. He sent it via email, so no postal costs! There is a particular TV series we thought he'd enjoy, so the past few years we've been sending him each new series on DVD for Christmas (didn't need to worry about the region, because his laptop has a multi-region player).

For his other sibs, they were travelling so I wanted something that would fit in luggage and not be an issue through customs (where they live, foodie items would be an issue). I gave charity giftcards (one for Oxfam, one for Operation Agri), which they really liked as the projects I chose relate to things they care about. We then gave them a Christmas decoration each (from DD), so they had something to take home (and to decorate home with). These dec's were flat, and I think came from M&S - so would have been flat and fitted into luggage easily.

Other years I've bought small items of clothing, pretty purses with earrings or a small bracelet inside.

Postage really is a killer huh??!! After 10yrs of sending huge xmas parcels back to NZ we have changed tack in the last few years and try buying something from within NZ and have MIL wrap it up and post internally for us. Other ideas we've used...

My friend has a wonderful gift box business that is on Facebook, search for The Pressie Box (Tokoroa), she really does beautiful work!!

I believe The Book Depository send to NZ free of charge if you have someone there happy to wrap and put under a tree on your behalf.

I am a kiwi living abroad and often I buy a case or two of wine for all the family to share as a gift (only works if they live relatively close to one another) - from Vine Online or Black Market.

Watching with interest - my best Friend lives in NZ and I always struggle finding things that can go by mail and won't break the bank.

Ahhh thats right Zara you reminded me we have done the case of wine thing a couple of times now, it is a perfect gift for my In Laws as they have everything and drink a bottle of wine together a fair few times a week!!

M&S are doing free international delivery at the moment so get in early!

For younger children, the Paddington Bear books a good. There is a Paddington London treasury for about a tender which has gone down well with friends overseas. And printed matter has cheaper postage, don't forget! So books and magazines a good idea.

Green and Blacks chocs were on offer recently, so I bought some of those to send overseas.

Fortnum and Mason, if budget allows? Not a full-blown hamper, but they have other options.

Otherwise I would try to find a local website to the country and send something from that.
