What to put in reusable advent calendar

Ive bought DD one of those reusable advent calendars - it has drawers in it and you put different things in and use year after year (no idea if they have a funcy name)

She's 2.5.

Just wondered what others put in the drawers. I don't want to spend much, next year I think I'll look out for things all year.

I've got some stickers on a roll which I'm going to cut up, maybe into four or five sections to put in different drawers. A few sweeties. A random jingly bell I found which I thought I'd put in 24 as its like santas sleigh bell.

Maybe a visit to the pound store is in order, already planning there for stocking fillers.

We put 'promises' in ours - make xmas biscuits, go to the cinema, make leaf rubbings, go find xmas lights - that kind of thing

Ok I've had my first issue. My jingle bell does not fit!!

We have one that has a christmas tree attached and then a drecoration goes on each day, with the 6 and 24 having bigger boxes.

Last year I think the 24 had Chocolate Buttons. Which is a big present here as dd is lactose intolerant. so with have to buy specialist ones and she does not get chocolate often.

I think the 6th had a small car or ball in. However this year it is going to have a christmas decoration in.

Love the promises one, I have a big one for DD and all the mindees so have things like coloured pencils, crayons, little bottles of bubbles, dinosaurs, chocolate coins and kinder chocolates.

If I see something for under 10p per use then I get it to go in.

We have a hanging fabric one with pockets - and lots of things don't fit in the pockets so stick up outside or we have a treasure hunt from the calendar to where the craft kit or whatever is hidden. (Things like printable pictures to colour in could be rolled into a tube and left sticking out of a half open drawer, for example).

What I tend to do is get enough small chocs for the 24 days (Aldi did some great Santas and Snowmen in nets last year, except DD found the stash and ate half a net, so I had to buy some ridiculously expensive Chocolate Nutcrackers as all other things were sold out, to finish off the last week).

Some days it is just the choc. But most days there is something else as well. A note about how I love DD. A reminder to write to Santa today with a nice sheet of paper to do that. Colouring in pages, and now Christmas themed activity sheets (all free printables from the net). A small bag of cloves with the idea of making pomanders. The recipe for DD's special spiced Christmas biscuits (an annual event). Craft kits or reminders to make a card for Nanna and Granny etc. A note saying we'll go for a walk in the woods to find cones (that we'll use to make decorations another day). Suggestion to practise her carols, or learn a joke to make Daddy laugh. Reminder that "Today is the Santa party in Mummy's office" or surprise outings, or that we'll do her Christmas shopping trip today. Today we will tidy your room so there's room for any new toys or clothes you get. A new Christmas book to read together. Say we'll watch a Christmas film later (tv or dvd).

Lots of things to keep her occupied - some helpful to me, some to get crafty and messy, some to keep her out of my hair, and some to get the magic going.
