All my DS (8) wants for Christmas is the Beyblade destroyer dome which looks compete rubbish - it's looks like a piece of cheap plastic and costs £39.99. !
I know he will only play with it a few times before discarding it, but he says he really really wants it.

Have anyone had a similar situation ?

Have to admit I do twitch a bit when she's dragging up and down the stairs on 'adventures' but I'd rather it continued to be loved and used --i guess--.

I really really wanted a Mr Frosty when I was a kid. I have been tempted to buy myself one.

DS1 wants a micro scalextric this year but all of the reviews are terrible. We can fit a full size one in the house Sad

The Hotwheels Criss Cross Crash was a big fat waste of money.

THIS TACTIC HAS WORKED FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS!!!!!
It's a simple but effective one. Tell them that anything advertised on tv is advertised on the childrens channel because it is the only way to get people to buy it! Show them threads on here about disappointed children who saw the adverts for something in tv & found it was junk when they got it for Christmas!
Worked on DD right up until a week ago when she saw a tv ad for my phone Angry

Have you not noticed the number of grown adults on MN lamenting the year they didn't get a coveted Mr. Frosty? "

If it was something they really wanted I would hunt around desperately to find it cheap somewhere so I didn't feel so Angry when they never played with it...

An example for me was a Mr Frosty which DS desperately wanted a couple of years ago. I knew it was crap and it would never be used - but a month before Christmas I found it in a charity shop, like new, for £2 Smile.

And guess what - he used it once then it sat gathering dust for months until I took it back to said charity shop Smile
