Seriously considering vouchers all round this year. :)

I have this image in my head of going round to the family unencumbered by presents. Not having to have wasted time and paper wrapping presents and just giving out Christmas cards with the vouchers in.

I won't do it really.... but the thought is nice.

Do it. I think that's great. I did it last year. Everyone got an Amazon voucher. It was so freeing.

I wish our families would get us vouchers, its getting stupid all this exchanging of things we don't really want that we have to keep and pretend to use!

Mum and Dad - paypal giftcard. (They are ebay mad!) or amazon.
2 x Sisters - Amazon vouchers. (Both have Kindles)
BILs - Itunes voucher for one (ipod iphone) and Argos for the other.
Niece - Local sweet shop does a gift voucher for a craft experience. Only £6 though so may need to think on that one as it seems a bit stingy. Perhaps toy shop voucher.
Other nephews and nieces - claires for the girls, game or amazon for the boys.
Friend's kids - Sweet shop craft vouchers.

MIL and her sister - M&S or BHS.

Yay. Apart from a couple of tins of biscuits for people who bring us the same every year (tis a tradition) that could be Christmas done!

And, buy a couple of extra ones (you know how they always say Have a spare gift for the unexpected gift giver ) from a shop that you like.
So after Christmas you can spend them, guilt free , in the sales (Well they'll need used up )

The only flaw is that I often like to get a bargain, and I really like to be able to give gifts that are worth more than I've paid for them. You can't do that with vouchers. They are clearly worth what you paid for them and all can see what you value their gifts.....

But then, compared to all the fuss of buying, storing, wrapping and transporting them on Christmas day might be worth that after all.....

I do this for all adults except my DP and sisters. I tape a voucher/gift card to a box of chocolates or toiletries gift set and that's them done. I see no point on giving something they won't use/ like. lazy

Makes life easier, especially this year when DS3 is due around Xmas time

Why buy people things they don't want and are going to be given to the school tombola or charity shop?

I go one stage further.

I only buy for dh and dcs.
No one else.
Now that IS liberating.

I do like to get a gift or two myself though, so I do secretly like the fact that we all get gifts for each other.

There just seems to be a disparity between things I have very carefully selected to be 'perfect' for my family and the random 'don't you know me at all?' gifts I sometimes seem to receive. That's probably just a perception thing though, to be fair.

But I love shopping for presents!. I love the chrristmassy feel in the high stree. I would hate not wrapping presents or watching people unwrap them.
So no, I don't like vouchers. Give food or drink if you you think that your pressies will end up in a charity shop.
