I'm really feeling bad about dd2, she is about 2 years younger and she never gets anything bought especially for her, not that she is particularly aware! I'm probably over thinking it!!! Everything she has is what dd1 has used before her or worn before her. I'm just trying to look for some xmas presents and struggling to find anything for her.

We got dd2 some more unisex toys, so a pirate ship, more cars, the girls had a joint elc whizz around garage which they loved. This arrangement worked well for the first few years until ds came along and now I run out of ideas for him. Now too dd2 (who is nearly 6) always wants whatever dd1 (nearly 8) has. Drives me mad. Now I don't know whether to just get them the same, or variations on the same theme, or something different so dd1 doesn't moan that they always get the same!

i feel your pain. I have 2 dd's age 5 and 2. I have no idea yet what to get dd2, last year she got a little wooden pram. how about duplo- there's many sets to choose from. I try to look at different versions of what we have. Happyland good too.

I worried about this with DS2 but as he's got older, he's developed different interests to his brother, so it's working out OK at the moment. He will, however, inherit big things like bikes, though they're close enough in age that they will need a scooter each.

DD2 loved getting a baby doll, which she still plays with; new floor puzzles and Orchard games are always good, and Lego sets are just brilliant. A favourite present was Toto/Cookie, the barking dog that is on a lead, or Barbie horses.

I did get her some more boyish toys, but we didn't really get the use out of them. This year she wants another baby doll, another Barbie horse, and Toto/Cookie's puppies so I must have chosen well in previous years!

The mini micro scooter was good too.
