Another prefering option 1 but happy with 2.

And I'll wear a dress if I can find one I fit into!

Oh blondie, whatever you've heard about this nest of vipers, it's all true nonsense. We're happy to have you join us and we'll get drunk and swear a lot be nice. Honest...

I'll be in Bristol on the 8th to see the panto. I may have to sneak away from DH and the DDs and say hello. :)

Grin @ sneaking out of the Hippodrome.

Will you ask them to stamp your hand so you can get back in?

Blondie - am also slightly terrified. I'm moving to Bristol two weeks today, I know no-one! I'm not shy exactly, but somewhat quirky, so already worrying about inadvertantly shocking people or saying the wrong thing...

Quirky's good, we like quirky.

Some people in Bristol have made a living out of being quirky...

Yum!!!

Personally I'd prefer Option 1 but am happy to go with Option 2 if that's the majority Smile

I'm lovely, honest Smile

8th Dec sounds good and Option 1 looks delish, but will go Option 2 if that is indeed the majority..

I'm glad I'll be welcomed by you lovely ladies hissing vipers will make a change.. I appear to have lost all my 'real' friends now I'm a mother Hmm

Ah, that'll be something to do with the bag of poo in your handbag, the suspicious marks on your clothing and the vague smell of cheese lingering about your person...

I'm happy with options one or two, will go with majority vote. And I will try very hard not to be scary (my DCs are older than everyone else's in the Bristol MN book group, so I can provide reassurance that it is possible to survive sleeplessness/weaning/potty training/school etc and stay relatively sane and cheerful just don't mention the grey hairs and wrinkles ).

Bag of poo? Is this a requirement?

Report
FreckledLeopard · 16/10/2012 15:33

Exexpat - how old are your DCs? My DD is 11 (acts like she's 18), so I'm also well past the baby stage!

Option one sounds nice. Option 2 less so. I am looking forward to it.
Lunchbox, I am coming from Portishead too. Do you know if Dolcegusto is coming? She is from here too.

I am looking forward to hearing stories of all your DC's and what I have in store for the next oh 30 or so years I guess!! DD (DC1) is 17 weeks old and wow, I have new found respect for all mothers the world over!!

MrsW Bag full of poo, suspicious marks and vague smell all present and correct. Am I still allowed to come??

FreckledLeopard they are 14, and 10 this week (but both look at least 2 years older and often act that way too).

Prob option 1 but it all sounds pretty tasty.

blondie I joined MN when pg with DS, he's now 6, and has a 3 yr old sister Shock

IslaMann · 16/10/2012 22:32

Oh god, looks like Ill be the eldest! My DS is 16. (Luckily I still think I'm 22!)

Report
MrsWembley · 16/10/2012 22:38

Not necessarily the case, Isla. My two may only be 3 & 1 but one of my best friends has a 21yr old... and she's the same age as me.Grin

I wouldn't worry, Isla - if I'd started a bit earlier I could probably have grandkids the age of my DCs.

And I'm in a postgrad class with people who weren't born when I first went to university...

Do you ever find yourself saying, 'I remember when...'?

I wouldn't be so sure IslaMann. I am one of those older mothers. I have grey hair and everything. And I remember Elvis Presley, alive.

Shock Now I feel about 10. I barely remember Take That splitting up...

MrsWembley - oh yes. In discussions on economics, there are things that happened when they were all toddlers and so are basically ancient history; I was reporting on them at the time...

MrsWembley · 17/10/2012 08:49

Oh how I love not being the only older geriatric mother. I don't feel nearly so odd now.Grin

On another subject, I was thinking of asking MNHQ to move this to the Christmas board, see if we can pick up anyone from outside Bristol, who still might like to come for a night out. After all, lots travel to London for their do! What does everyone think?

Good idea MrsW. The more the merrier! On the age thing- we're prob similar as I remember that tv show where I assume your name comes from?... "Drink Mrs Wembley?" "Just the one..."
