DD(8) has a playmobil advent calendar....what to do for DD(11)?

The playmobil calendar went down like a storm last year with DD. I've got her a different one for this year and am aiming to alternate them until she gets too old, then sell or give them away.

Last year DD1 was happy with a chocolate calendar, but it seemed a little unfair compared to the size and expense of the playmobil one. (Was v keen to get the DD2 away from choc in her calendar having had 6 teeth removed!)

Am thinking ahead and trying to come up with something that will be good for DD1 to have as an advent calendar. Playmobil one cost £14 so happy to spend up to that amount for parity.

Was wondering what the lovely Mnetters on here could think of...currently just thinking of having a chat with her about some of the things she'd like to do and putting promises in a pocket advent that I already have, but not sure....

Well, you can't do better than Playmobil, so don't know what else to suggest..........

I'd put things in the pocket calendar rather than promises as you can guarentee that either she'll want stuff like dd2 or dd2 will be upset that she's not getting promises!

Little things like hair bobbles, clips, small stationery, lip balm etc would be good.

Stationery has promise. She's not at all girl though, so hair bits etc wouldn't work.

How old are the Dds?

D'oh, just seen your title, sorry! Could you do parts of a message that add up to a treat or something? Photocopy a cinema ticket, cut up copy into parts, one for each day for a few days? Kind of like a promise but drags it out a bit!

I've seen one with nail varnishes in. However, DD(14) sulked when I got DS(3) a playmobil one, so she is having Playmobil Dinosaur Expedition advent calendar this year and she is very chuffed.

You can get a Lego friends one which is fab....not sure if your dd is too old for it though....my 11yo ds loved his lego one last year and has has hinted strongly again about the star wars Lego one.

Am considering the lego one after looking at them. She does have lego, but doesn't play with it that often.

Ds2 asked for a lego one last year but he understood it cost a lot of money so it was an early Christmas present.

DD (16) saw one last year full of expensive makeup and perfume samples. It cost 80 pounds.

Could you give your DD a small present on 1st December with her choc calender and explain that it was to make it fair on both dcs.

I got one of the make-up ones last year in TK Maxx for around £12?

Am now wondering about whether to do one with little figures in the pockets, like the Dr Who lego-ish figures or the moshi monster figures, that you can get in the pick and mix in the shops. Not sure if she'll still be into that sort of thing by then.

I'll ask her closer to Dec. (Knowing her she'll just want chocolate, but her taste buds finally woke up last year and she declared her Dr Who calendar chocolate 'nasty' so may not be that interested.

Could you put posher chocs in the pocket Advent calendar?

That could work - she has got a sweet tooth!

I think, sadly only for one more year, that DD2 would still prefer Playmobil.

home bargains does posh chocolates at a good price....you could have one for yourself too!

What about the wooden reusable advent house from John Lewis?
You can out whatever they like in the little drawers?

At the moment I'm thinking of a box of miniature (nice) chocolates to fill the calendar pockets, then possibly adding in a 50p to every pocket. She has started to like buying presents for people from her own money, so it would give her a little extra to spend on presents (or herself) and altogether it would come to the same £ as the playmobil one cost.
