Gifts to take for Christmas in USA

I'm hoping for a bit of help with gift ideas.

My DP and I are spending Christmas with his family in New York. There will be uncles, aunts, cousins and various other people that I have never met but would like to give a token present.

We are flying out so nothing can be too heavy and we're broke so nothing too pricey either.

I was thinking tea or chocolate but that's not going to be for everyone. Any ideas will be gratefully received.

Seems like you already have it sorted, but living here, everyone I know is quite into 'English' things, so tasteful Union Jack types of items go down well, especially if it has a well-known label (i.e. Harrods). Agree American's generally aren't big into tea, but if they do drink tea, then tend to think tea from English is something special. I would definitely double check with your particular airline before bringing crackers. I was checking this out because I wanted some here for Christmas and everything I read said you couldn't bring them. I can't even buy them online here, because they won't ship them by air from the mainland to Hawaii. I've yet to see any locally....

Absolutely do not call anything fruitcake.you can bring it or pudding and people will enjoy it but not if it's called fruitcake.

I would take something from Betty's in Harrogate. Traditionally Yorkshire.
