Baby's first Christmas presents?

As the title says!

My PFB DD will be 7 months old on Christmas day, and whilst at that age she won't know what's going on or be interested in opening gifts (other then to play with/eat the paper!) I still want to mark it as a special occasion.

I want to get a her a "main" present, like a large toy but don't know what would be a good idea? Are jumparoos good? Or something like that? Or would it be best to have that at a younger age? What would you get a 7 month old?

I've already got a few clothing bits that the Next sale kindly helped with, and I've just ordered a Harrods first Christmas bear (I want to start a little tradition of getting her the Harrods bear every year!) and I will be getting a few smaller toys, I'm just stuck as to what to get as her something big?

I'm thinking around the £50 mark? What can you suggest? I'm not too rigid on the price but keep it sensible!

Jumparoos are the best thing ever, but 7 months is too old, she needs to go in around the 3 month mark. It will last her to 9 - 12 mths but if she doesn't get it untill christmas it won't be worth the money.

Think ahead to the next few months, we got DD some crawling toys, like the fisherprice train, that encourage her to crawl - there are loads and vary in price.

Also a toddle truck like this, again they vary in price from £10 ish in tesco upwards.

We bought the jumparoo as DD's big present but gave her it in the oct/nov when she could first use it, and just had the small toys to open on the day. She will be none the wiser, and you can put a big bow around it or something on the day so it is included in the present pile if you want.

I'm in the same position, ds2 will be 7 months at Xmas and I'd like to get a jumperoo before that. I agree the baby won't know it's not Christmas, but I'm wondering how to explain the early arrival to 5 year old brother - or if I don't get other presents for the baby, ds1 will think he was on Santa's naughty list!

Mistress, I would not tell DS1 that it is DS2's christmas present, I would just produce it in the same manner I would a new highchair.

Then on christmas day I would have a few things wrapped for DS2 - even if they are hand me down toys from DS1, or a couple of cheap teddies etc.

DS1 will be wrapped up in his own new toys etc, and if he notices that his brother hasn't got as much, just tell him santa only sends small presents to babies because that is all they need, and that when DS2 is a big boy like DS1 he will get big boy presents too!

Thank you for the suggestions. I might be getting her a jumparoo this weekend instead of Christmas! They do look amazing!

The toys that help encourage crawling look like a great idea so might get something along those lines.
