and most 'bits' iyswim. She still believes in FC, and FC fills a pillowcase. Confused

She's not getting phone, an ipod or those things till older, and when i can afford. She got a Wii for her tenth birthday.

Books, clothes. Things for her bedroom (mine loves wee baskets and boxes to put things in) art stuff, cheap beads and wire to make necklaces with. Smelly stuff. Games for the wii. DVDs. Both mine loved having a torch (cheap, wind up) and pencils with their names on. My daughter is 10 too and so this is our last year for the big FC as High School will kill him off. She is getting the above, also her own suitcase. I buy lovely clothes and shoes on eBay and they always get an "outfit" and new pyjamas. Sounds such a lot. Where I struggle is that her birthday is at the start of Jan and I am out of ideas by then!

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 18/09/2012 18:49

Stocking - Hawkins Bazaar are great for this, they had some nice rings in, rubbers, pencils, little popping/jumping characters, pencil sharpeners etc. DD always has a book in her stocking too, smellies, sugar mice, a tangerine, chocolate coins, little craft type thing (last year an origami kit) and we have new pj's on xmas eve.
I am out of ideas for her main pressie though, she'll be 10 at the end of October and would like a tv in her room which I think we'll get but have no idea for xmas!

piratecat · 18/09/2012 18:57

tricky when they have birthdays near to xmas, i know as mine is!

Hawkins Bazzaar no longer exists, i think we have most things. x

sorry was caught on the phone.

dd is tomboyish, and into her bands and music. have got her an Ed Sheeran hoodie from me, but FC is out of ideas!!

She has said books. Has half a ton of drawing stuff notepads, pens etc, and everything form her interests, it seems, Pokemon, things like that. Just stuuf has built up over the last few yrs, and now we seem to be toyed out iyswim.

Prob should have explained that better in opening post. She has an ipod.
I could have a look on ebay for Wii games maybe.

What about tickets for something? A musical or a band. I have booked tickets to see Little Mix for my DDs 9th birthday.

Ragwort · 18/09/2012 19:10

Has she got a camera? We got DS a camera for his 11th birthday, he was very pleased with that.

QuintessentialShadows · 18/09/2012 19:11

Get her a skateboard. Good fun.

piratecat · 18/09/2012 19:12

hi, yes she has a digital camera. Would have loved to have seen Ed Sheeran, but all sold out, we live in the depths of the countryside. So couldn't find any others near us.

hmm. it's a tricky age.

piratecat · 18/09/2012 19:14

lol, a skateboard, that's quite her actually, but she's a bit wobbly on her feet, and has never wanted wheels lol. She can't even ride a bike and has never has any interest in being 'mobile'!!

I will really have to have a good think won't I.

How about a sewing machine?

We bought DD one last year and shes had loads of fun with it. There are quite a few small machines that do around 8 types of stitches etc for less than £40.

That teamed with a book on simple sewing projects and some material maybe?

piratecat · 18/09/2012 19:29

that's the sort of thing i would have liked, but she's too much of a tomboy.

things she has coveted and had in the past--Power rangers, Pirate outfit, stuff from the Disney film Cars. Magnifying glass, Pokemon.

Hmm, maybe something to do with Spying, she just bought a gun with caps. So might need some more equipment. She hasn't a pink gene to be seen. Except for a huge crush on Take That's Mark owen.

that's it i'll get her Mark Owen!!

What about a nerf gun. I got ds2 a couple for his tenth birthday, and DD (16) often has fun joining in shooting each other :o

If she likes arty stuff but has loads, what about one of those weird science kits.

piratecat · 18/09/2012 19:57

what is a nerf gun?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 18/09/2012 19:59

My DD is 10yo and she hasn't dropped any not-so-subtle-hints about presents yet Grin

Her latest passion though is Cycle Proficency Lessons (she hasn't got a bike yet).
She hasn't got a new phone (she's got her dads old phone but doesn't take it out)

She got lots of cross-stitch (from Hobbycraft) -her choice,
Earrings (my DD has clip-ons)
Clothes
Trip to the ballet

What about a guitar? Should be easy enough to find on Ebay/Amazon?

lljkk · 18/09/2012 19:59

Snurk, you had to ask. How I wish I lived in your girl world.
This one, DS highly rates. He has about 16 different models. Sainsbury's sell them, get extra bullets whatever you do.

NorbertDentressangle · 18/09/2012 20:00

If shes a tomboy how about a welding kit instead of the sewing machine? Wink Maybe not.......

Does she like sciencey type things? A microscope

You said that she likes her music, how about an instrument like a guitar?

CointreauVersial · 18/09/2012 20:03

If she's outdoorsy, how about a metal detector?

A microscope?

ScorpionQueen · 18/09/2012 20:03

Paperjamz music stuff is all on offer at The Entertainer atm. It looks really cool.

piratecat · 18/09/2012 20:04

it is mainly a boys word tho, the gun looks like fun.

am glad it's not a pink world really, as i am not girly. She has a guitar, and a keyboard. (both mine but she has had a go)bloody hell she sounds so spoilt.

The world of the spy seems to appeal, she lives in parallel worlds, and is always making gadgets out of paper.

OP posts:
notwoo · 18/09/2012 20:09

craft kits?
Science / nature kits?
baking stuff?
music magazine?
board / card game?

SquishyCinnamonSwirls · 19/09/2012 06:27

Nerf guns are fab! DD has a set that came with a pair of them, glasses and a vest, oh and yes yes to buying loads of extra bullets.

brandysoakedbitch · 19/09/2012 06:31

She already seems to have an awful lot: imagine how much you will struggle next year!

feetheart · 19/09/2012 06:35

Den-making kit?

Can get them from various places but you could make up your own or just add to it.

As for the Christmas/birthday clash I have it with both of mine and DH. My trick is to buy lots of things they might like then divide it up nearer the time - some for Christmas, some for birthday. Simples :)

gregssausageroll · 19/09/2012 08:09

Are nerf guns not dangerous? I am not and old fudder but they just look a bit brutal!
