Lapland UK alternatives

I have been considering taking DC to Lapland UK this year. I have been taken in by the 'magical Christmas experience' aspect, but we don't have the budget to stretch to the real Lapland.

It's a 3 hour drive for us though, and the reviews are mixed. Lots of people are of the opinion that it's far too expensive, I'm not hugely worried about the price but I don't want to be ripped off.

I wondered if anyone else could recommend a lovely Christmas experience. We are based in the Midlands.

DC are 5&6.

We went to the Hyde Park Winter Wonderland last year. We had a great time but I came away feeling it was more about the fair rides than Christmas for DC (plus very expensive).

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Have you been to the Birmingham Christmas Market? We had a fab day out there a couple of years ago, went wandering in the morning & ice-skating in the afternoon.

I love winter wonderland and will be going again this year (no DC but just want to go for myself, big kid at heart! Blush )

Somewhere else on my list to visit is The Christmas Adventure in Yorkshire which looks fun - might be worth looking into that?
