Can anyone recommend a balance bike?

DD will be 4 at Christmas and would like a balance bike. She is fairly small for her age. Any recommendations?

We have a smallish 3 yr old, who got a Hudora off amazon, which has been great. Very light weight for when I sling it over the top of the pushchair to go and collect both kids from Nursery (after work).

Excellent. We have had one for two years and it looks brand new, despite heavy use. Light but not skiddy, easy to handle, had a brakes, seat more adjustable than many. Pricey, but well worth it. Proper air tyres- comfort and grip.

Looks a good price on the Hudora nextphase, and weight definitely matters when I know I'll be the one carrying it if (when) DD decides she's tired...

We have the smallest Puky, and it is very light - I can easily have ds on my shoulders and carry the bike in one hand.

I found DD's puky heavy compared with DS's LikeaBike Jumper but both were very good. Having now bought Isla bikes for both DS and DD I would recommend the Rohan. Amazing bikes and great service. Also high resale value.

Just seen your DD is 4. DD had her puky for her second birthday and no problems with size of weight for her so should think your DD will be fine.

DS has had the Decathlon balance bike for a couple of years, it's been fantastic. Sturdy, adjustable seat and handlebar height and all plastic so can be left out in the rain without a problem. It cost under £30

Islabikes. Can't rate them enough and have good resale value on eBay etc. we got 3/4 of our price back a year later.

DS age 3 has a specialised balance bike. Bought for his 2nd birthday and he's mastering it now. It's quite light and not to heavy to carry when he decides half way to the park he'd rather run.

Islabike Rothan. It's super light and as others have said, good resale value. We bought ours fo 120 I think then sold it 3 yrs and 2 children later for 80, so it actually cost us 20 per child.

We got one for DS for his 4th birthday, as he isn't at all co-ordinated and had only just started getting into his scooter.

He really isn't at all interested in it. If your DD hasn't shown any interest, I would go for the cheapest one you can get. We spent £100 on one for DS and it was such a waste. Hopefully DS2 will show more interest.

Buy a normal bike. Take off pedals. Save money. Or don't even bother taking off the pedals.

We have the Kettler versions - have been superb and 4yo DD has just got a "real" bike for her birthday so, off with the stabilisers I say!!
