I'm starting to think about where to take the DCs to see FC this year. 2 years ago we went on the North York Moors Railway and last year we went to Longleat while visiting family.

Where can we go that is really good?

Where aborts in Yorkshire are you?
Friends of ours always go to Winter Wonderland at Spofforth, near Knaresborough, but we just go to the local church 'do'.

In North Yorkshire but quite happy to travel a couple of hours to go somewhere good.

I'll have a look at that one.

When I lived in Newcastle I used to take my friend's little boy to Fenwick's. Totally different and urban though, depends what you fancy. Must be something lovely in York.

Kirklees Light Railway do a Santa Express, it's a train ride then visit to the grotto. Quite expensive but lovely gifts and the Santa last year was fantastic. We are booking for Christmas Eve this year.

Oh yes, I'd forgotten them! They are less than a mile away from us, but probably a bit far for the OP in N Yorks.

Santa down the mine - national coal mining museum Wakefield
Santa on a plane - Yorkshire Air Museum Elvington
Santa on a train - Kirklees light railway - very good
Stockheld Park- different activities - winter walk, skating, maze - quiet expensive but can pay for each activity

Thoroughly recommend down the mine - they go down in the lift, wear helmets with torches - the santa is fab! Plane also great and good value for money.

As you can tell I have boys!

We did the Kirklees light railway one last year too glen. It was lovely, and I agree - the Santa was fantastic!

I looked at the mine but the DCs will be 5, 4 and 6 months old so only DS1 can go see Santa.

Kirklees and Stockheld Park are the favourites.

We've been to The Farmer's Cart and The Yorkshire Farming Museum(Murton) both on the outskirts of York. and enjoyed them both. At Murton they have an elves village to visit with lots of very corny jokes and a ride on a steam train to see Santa. Haven't been for a few years as older boys grew out of it but will be going this year with ds4 who is 2.

I was just about to mention Murton Park too!

Ingleborough Cave sounds like it would be a fun option although we haven't been at Christmas.

Thanks for tip on Ingleborough Cave - not seen that one and perfect for my older two!!!!
