I've read about this book/elf on mn and want to get one for DD for this December. Thought getting it out of season would make it cheaper Hmm . It's proving hard to track down and amazon have it for over £50 Shock Shock . Does anyone know where I can get it a bit cheaper or whether the book is that important and it's more the elf hiding/finding mischief every day in December (in which case I can buy any old toy elf)? Or, does anyone have an old one they no longer need and would like to sell to me?

Haribojoe · 15/08/2012 14:43

Got mine on Amazon last year was about £25, best money I've ever spent. Have already started gathering props for his adventures this year Grin

fuzzywuzzy · 15/08/2012 14:44

actually no here but its £25 !

GnocchiNineDoors · 15/08/2012 14:46

£25?!?!?

Surely you could just buy any old elf figuirine and sit it on a shelf?

reastie · 15/08/2012 14:48

That's what I'm wondering gnocchi - can I just buy any old elf or does it all tie in better when you have to book to go with it?

fuzzy excellent link - will get this one if it is necessary to buy the official one avec book Grin

I bought a pack of 2 elves (about 9 inch each) from amazon- one for each dd. they were £15 for both inc delivery. I ordered mid November and availability was patchy!!! Just had a quick look for them on amazon but very few on there yet so wait a month or so.

No I don't think you need the real elf on the shelf. You can print their passport/letter of introduction off online. I'll try post link!

reastie · 15/08/2012 14:58

Ohh they get a passport and letter with them do they??

Exactly the kids don't know or even care as long as its an elf! Plus I thought mine were cuter than the 'real' one! :)

ZombieBelle · 15/08/2012 16:29

etsy here are lots of elves for a lot cheaper for those who just want an elf :)

Love the EoaS "Off the Shelf" (the discount Elf.

My EoaS is a toy Action Man type doll with gaudy looking red and green Elf trousers and top (felt glued and sewed onto him).

I might make him a naughty Elf this year (my DC are 10 and 12.6 so getting a bit old for all the malarky).
He might be found in the morning lying sparked out and surrounded by After Eight wrappers Grin

ANTagony · 15/08/2012 19:36

bear elf?

bloodyfurious · 15/08/2012 19:45

I too got elves and printed out the certificates and things from the website.

I cant remember what make they are but they were a set of 2 from ebay for about £15, aunty made a sack and they came with an advent calender and a book, oh what fun we had with them, they ran away, they crashed the car, they floated out of the house on giant balloons, they brought books and treats and covered the house in loo paper, they papered the entrance to the DCs bedroom.

The DCs love them and they pop in through the year to keep an eye on them, the real elf on the shelf is too pricey!!!

I am due a baby just before christmas and am wondering if for the other DCs sakes I should get one for it. DH thinks I am mad.

bloodyfurious · 15/08/2012 19:49

I have some templates with letters, adoption certs etc, if anyone wants them emailed over.

sunnyday123 · 15/08/2012 21:28

Bloodyfurious I would love one please! Thank you!

bloodyfurious · 15/08/2012 21:33

Pm me an email address and I'll get them to you tomorrow.

reastie · 16/08/2012 09:13

ant thanks for the linky but think I want an elf elf not a teddy elf

zombie etsy - great idea! Had a long search through but nothing that tickled my fancy, well, some did but all seemed to be from USA with hefty shipping costs Hmm . Will keep hunting for the perfect elf, or just go shopping nearer christmas when hopefully they'll be loads about

bloodyfurious · 16/08/2012 09:34

OP posts:
bloodyfurious · 16/08/2012 09:42

I just send everything, there should be
a letter than comes when the elf arrives
a report card (so the elf can report back to santa and also to record what the elves have done
a christmas eve letter saying what a good child you are
and an adoption certificate, which one have I missed off??

bloodyfurious · 16/08/2012 09:43

and a blank sheet just saying "x comes to play" for whatever use you want.

reastie · 16/08/2012 09:46

I've got a report card 2011, a blank 'jangles comes to play' report 2012 and a blank card saying merry christmas with santa on the side (3 times)

OP posts:
bloodyfurious · 16/08/2012 09:51

Ive just resent some then, you should now have 2 copies of their christmas eve letter and one of the letter that comes with them when they arrive
