I've read about this book/elf on mn and want to get one for DD for this December. Thought getting it out of season would make it cheaper Hmm . It's proving hard to track down and amazon have it for over £50 Shock Shock . Does anyone know where I can get it a bit cheaper or whether the book is that important and it's more the elf hiding/finding mischief every day in December (in which case I can buy any old toy elf)? Or, does anyone have an old one they no longer need and would like to sell to me?

Thanks for resending bloody . 2 of them won't open on my computer - think it must be maybe as I have a mac so I don't have all windows programs to open such things. I'll botch sort something out of my own imagination, great idea with the posh paper though. Thanks so much for the emails. Actually, I may try opening the other attachments on DHs computer later - they'll probably work on his as it's windows Grin

I LOVE Elf on the Shelf! We only got it last year, and I dd had so much fun with it. Dd was only just 3 so I didn't have the elf do too much mischief, but he was hidden well everyday . On Xmas morning dd was more interested in finding elf than her presents.

If you go to the elf on the shelf official website, you can register your elf - it doesn't have to be the official one, and you can get loads of colouring in downloads, letters from Santa.

Awh this is lovely, bookmarking for when I'm on the laptop later! Smile DD will be 3 just after Christmas and I think she'd love this Smile

I just saw this on the other thread, elf on the shelf. It is the official one with book, really good price as I paid £25 last year.

ettiketti · 21/08/2012 06:57

Never heard of it, but what a cute idea :) the last two links take me to a YouTube ad tho for some reason?

buzzgirly · 21/08/2012 07:23

You're right ettiketti! Bloody iPad! I'll try again or the amazon link amazon elf

We did this last year but with an "unofficial" elf that we bought from Ebay. You can find the story being read on youtube. DS watched the story online a few times before his elf arrived.

We loved doing it last year and can't wait to start again this year. DS will be 6 and DD will be 2.8. Even now if something goes missing or turns up in an unexpected place, DS will blame Cranberry (his elf) and thinks he is still keeping an eye on him.

In fact, DH enjoyed it more than anyone and has been talking about coming up with a list of escapades for December so we don't run out of ideas Grin

Hi, my elf on shelf has arrived and I wondered if anyone would be able to send me or let me know where I can find the paperwork to go with him - the certificates and letters etc?

Thanks

To answer the OP: ebay

Or TKMaxx closer to Christmas when they have their decorations out.

Flisspaps · 11/09/2012 12:00

We just bought a £5 Ben Elf from Tesco

MildlyMonica · 11/10/2012 16:03

£17.58 and free postage on Book Depository at the moment here

MamaPizza · 13/10/2012 22:10

Can someone please tell me - what exactly comes with the original Elf on the shelf pack? I thought it was just the elf and a book, but it sounds like there are other goodies in it. Could someone please list it for me? Happy to pay the full price if it is really worth it.

I just bought an elf last week and my kids are loving it soooooo much. I bought it on Ebay 'Elf on the Shelf kit' for £16 with a lovely knitted elf, letter which they wrote my kids names on in a lovely presentation box including magic seeds, bell & chocolate coin for each of my kids. It is making our Christmas even more special! The first night they planted their 'magic seeds' and they following morning they'd grown into candy canes - even the canes came with the kit. Then there's a note for Christmas day saying 'well done' with their names on, and that the elf has told santa how good the kids have all been and that they're on the Nice List. It is brilliant! :) Merry Christmas!

OP - this is the one that I bought -

www.amazon.co.uk/gp/aw/d/B00FUMEPM2/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?qid=1443735794&sr=8-1&pi=SY200_QL40&keywords=elf+rag+doll&dpPl=1&dpID=411lcRIvbgL&ref=plSrch

They do do a larger one if needed. Great quality.

If I were doing elf on the shelf I would use a Maileg Pixie. They are lovely.
