Hello,

Our baby boy is due on the 8th of December, I know he wont remember his first christmas but it would be nice to get him some things, maybe something that he can keep. Any ideas what I could get him?

Yay for this thread Grin

My LO is due mid-Nov and had no idea what to do for him. Family will now be asked for toys to span his first year and I'm starting a bauble tradition.

My two stepsons each chose a bauble last Christmas so I'm going to build on that so they're involved!

I have a November baby (21m now) and you really do have to think logically - there's 11 months between xmas and his bday so we're thinking of toys for spring/summer as well as some clothes for thru the year. When it comes to summer with a 6mo, you'll not be delighted at the thought of having to spend a fortune on suitable toys just for the sake of it. And when your LO is older, they need to know that they WON'T be getting loads of toys just for the sake of it!

Shop in debenhams sale etc for summer clothes in 6-9m size (if u know gender of baby)

What about buying a lovely keepsake box and baby book?

The tree decoration idea is good - we get a new one every year - we have a couple from Disneyland Paris now, personalized ones with each of the kids' names and dates of birth on and a couple that DS1 has chosen.

We have a "2005" (the year DS1 was born) gorgeous plate from Disney store which we still use for Santa's shortbread and rudolph's carrot.

And every year they get brand new, gorgeous Christmas EVE pyjamas which hard lovely for the stocking-hanging photos and then for the Christmas morning photos

I've bought this book for a "first christmas present" for various babies. the patterns are genuinely interesting to a young baby and the book comes with a wallfrieze of the same images too.

My baby is due in December, I also have a 2 year old so he won't need many toys. I'm thinking a bauble, jellycat teddy and maybe a baby sheepskin.

Just in case, I had a few things for a stocking for DD (she finally arrived in the early morning of 26th!!). Like a small tub of sudocreme, nice bath stuff, Baby's 1st Christmas bib etc. And a small toy (I cannot remember WHAT that was now, but I know I got one).

I have a personalised ornament that my mum got her that we hang every year (which was actually FOR her 1st Christmas in 06, but does have her DOB in 05 on it), and I bought one of Waterford Crystal's "year" ornaments in 2006 too (we bought a Waterford Marquis one the year we got married - cheaper - but had a few squids and a hefty discount in 1 store to get a special one for DD's 1st Christmas) - that doesn't have her name or "Baby's 1st Christmas" or anything, just a tag with the year.

And I also got a hardback "Twas the night before Christmas" that gets stored with the decorations and gets read for the first time each Christmas on Christmas Eve, 1st read in 2006 also.
