I want to start decorating the house with glittery stuff and lights and holly and christmassy stuff.

I love mn. I was thinking about Christmas earlier, wondered into 'christmas' thinking surely no one else is mad enough to be planning Christmas 2012 yet. But yes, sure rnough there you are!
Happy Easter! :o

Grin

I've been hunting for holly and have found 4 different types and have permission to cut them when needed by the owners (who think I'm slightly barking)

My little Christmas tree in a pot (live one) has blue solar lights on it.

I always go "Aaaah" when I see it.
It will be even nicer in summer!

Didn't you make an Easter cave that you rolled the stone away from today decorated with angels and shining vestments?

(wish I had now, that sounds pretty cool actually)

I never get into Christmas until it is nearly over... except at this time of year when I really miss it.

molepom · 09/04/2012 09:34

Hubiie, I wish I'd thought of that now. I could have made one with the trampoline.

70, I want a live one but I'll just kill it.

Time to go check what decorations we can put put for various pagan festivals I think!

molepom · 09/04/2012 11:25

Nah..

Although I have been making an effort for halloween in recent years but it has always been Christmas and always will be that gets the biggest effort.

Lol at the easter cave but I did see someone near me had made a spring/easter wreath for her front door. Loads of pretty flowers and pastel coloured eggs. It looked fab - will def be stealing that idea for next year!
But, back to Christmas, what was the best thing you did last Christmas that you will be doing again this year?
Mine (idea nicked off someone on MN) was to have a Christmas-y activity to do every day in the advent calender, like: watch the polar express or make salt dough decs. Loved it and so did the dc and it made the whole of December feel so Christmas-y.

There's 2 things that happened that I will be repeating.

1 is a german tradition. I can not remember the date that it happens, but on this date, the elves come into each house and make sure that rooms and shoes are clean and tidy, as a reward they leave a small bag of sweets in the clean shoes and a note saying thank you for keeping things clean and that they will make a note of it for Santa. I didn't get a chance to do this with the kids this year as I never heard of it.

There is a German student at college and she left these small bags of sweets in our safety boots and then told us about the tradition at lunch. It's a lovely idea which I want to continue.

2nd, is the christmas eve hamper. I think I enjoyed that more than the kids.

Another one I started was get the kids to choose a new decoration for the tree each year.

I LOVE christmas! So pleased that I am not the only one who banishes the subject until December each year!
