We really don't want to spend all day Tomor in kitchen but happy to spend time this eve when kids in bed so just wondered what everyone else does to make life easier!

Peel spuds n chop, ditto carrots n sprouts. Bung in pans and cover in cold water, put lidson pans. I always set my table, too.

AliBellandthe40jingles · 24/12/2011 09:35

Stuff and dress the turkey, peel and prep all the veg.

BarkisIsWillin · 24/12/2011 11:43

Stuffing made and in fridge, ham soaking - will cook it later today, brandy butter made, cranberry sauce made. Might peel a few spuds later, depends on how day goes. Still in pj's but have been toiling all morning (until 5 mins ago), will go and shower/dress now and start to relax a bit... (after I finish wrapping)

Shoppingveggie · 24/12/2011 14:37

Table will be laid, turkey all ready to go in oven and all vegetables peels and in saucepans too - pretty much like thedurkinsdame. Have to say though I have not made anything from stratch.

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 24/12/2011 14:41

I will peel/chop the veg tonight. Have already made the gravy and a caramlised carrots with red onions dish and have a parsnip and butternut squash bake in the oven at the moment. The rest will be done tomorrow.

tkband3 · 24/12/2011 14:42

Have cooked ham, made cauli cheese and mince pies. Will also be making stuffing and cake for DCs (who don't like Christmas pudding) and peeling and chopping as many veg as I can be bothered to do! But also have to wrap presents and hoover - was hoping DH might do some of that, but I have a feeling he has to go to get my present Hmm. He did do the last-minute Sainsburys shop though, so I shouldn't moan!

Bonkerz · 24/12/2011 14:45

Plan to chop all veg tonight and have in pans covered in water. Will prep turkey and have in fridge. Beef is going in slow cooker tonight on low and I will roll the sausage balls tonight and put in fridge. Also need to make trifle.

CherrysOnTheNaughtyList · 24/12/2011 15:13

beef already in slow cooker, ducks in oven roasting. will cook the carrots and broccoli tonight, put into tupperware and put in shed overnight. spuds will be peeled, chopped and put in water ready to parboil tomorrow. not sure what to do with the stuffing, whether to prepare it tonight and just form into balls tomorrow before cooking.

ScorpionQueen · 24/12/2011 19:56

Ham is cooking, veg is prepped, just got to prep turkey and peel spuds before bed.

Just need to do wrapping...
Xmas Smile

shodatin · 24/12/2011 21:38

Have already cooked and frozen poultry slices in gravy with separate stuffings and four veg so only need to roast (prepared) potatoes then take starters and ( home-made chocolate) pudding from fridge - preferring to relax than cook biggest meal ever.

Gingerbics · 24/12/2011 22:00

Wow everyone is so organised I'm very impressed! Have a fantastic day Tomor and enjoy your very well prepared in advance meals! X

None.

PresentsRibbonsAndMerrySantas · 24/12/2011 22:20

nothing, it's only a roast dinner, bit of a joke for my side of the family, they always phone me xmas morning and ask if i have started the dinner yet, most of the time i have not, i do cook everything from scratch, but its only for 3 adults and 4 dc's, they think i am far too laid back Xmas Grin

Made a carrot and swede mash, is .in fridge ready to be microwaved
Also a potato dauphonoise made and in fridge ready to go in oven
trifle made; just needs custard topping
Turkey roll defrosting in garage, need to read instructions in the morning and put into oven.
Just have to wrap bacon round sausages
DP has peeled potatoes, parsnips and carrots ready to be parboiled and baked.
Am also going to do some frozen peas in the morning
MIL is bringing over ready cooked stuffing, Brussels sprouts and Xmas pud as i don't like them.

Is DS (14mths) first xmas he can really participate in, so am looking forward to opening presents with him, not slaving in the kitchen!
(unfortunately got a cold coming so better get to bed!)

WhoKnowsWhereTheMistletoes · 24/12/2011 22:43

I've made Jamie Olivers get ahead gravy, just need to add the meat juices and heat through.

MoreBeta · 24/12/2011 22:48

Apart from making a Yule Log and stock for gravy - absolutely no prep done at all. Its only 4 of us.

Tortoise · 24/12/2011 23:10

Veg and Spuds all peeled, chopped and in pans.
Now just need to wrap last few bits.

shodatin · 25/12/2011 10:14

Like others, have done variation on Jaimie's gravy, usually having chicken stock available in freezer anyway.
Bon Appetit to all!

MyLifeIsStillChaotic · 25/12/2011 20:28

I make onion gravy tsc so no meat juices required Xmas Smile
