Does anyone know if any of the supermarkets sell edible glitter or something similar I can use.

I put normal glitter in last year and the garden is still sparkling. Thought I'd go for something that isn't going to be trodden into the house all year this year but have I left it to late?

Maybe put silver balls in-from confectionary/cake making section?

edible glitter more likely to be available in a specialist cake decorating shop. Would granular sugar sprinkled in food colouring work? Not sure if the food colouring would dissolve the sugar though - twas the first idea which came to me!

you can get sparkly sugar crystals for sprinkling on ice cream, etc from the supermarket

edible glitter mainly from specialist cake shops.

You can colour sugar with food colouring but you might find it no less messy (and sticky) than real glitter.

I'd go with th real glitter if I was you but then DD has a barbie glitteriser and I am used to everything being covered in glitter Xmas Grin

I saw some sparkly sugar crystal things in asda this morning in baking section Xmas Grin

Thanks all.

After a wasted trip to Waitrose I have gone for your idea Moondog and added a few silver balls and some hundreds and thousands.

The dog will probably scoff it anyway so better than glittery poo!! Grin

I had some Lakeland Limited gold star edible glitter (from last Christmas) Xmas Grin.
We coloured sugar with blue&red -regal purple -food colour, then added porridge and the stars.
Very nice.

I noticed that Sainsbo had lustre dust and paint in the baking bit
(But didn't buy it because I worry it might taste like car spray paint)

Just looking forward to the bewilderment of FIL and his gardener when his grass is cut in spring!
