Elf on the shelf -saying goodbye

Just wondering how you all plan to say goodbye to your elf? and when?

Im not sure wether to let the kids say goodbye on xmas eve so that Santa can take him back with him when he brings the presents. An exchange! or just let him sit on the tree for a few days untill after xmas before putting him away?

I don't have an Elf on the Shelf (only read about them, too late for this year, on here). If I did, I'd tell the children that he'd get a lift back to the North Pole with Father Christmas after he'd delivered the presents on Christmas Eve.

Thought this was a flounce!

Yep - we're saying that he's going back with Father Christmas once he's been with the presents. (Not that DS will take any notice of us - he's only 9.5 months. He does, though, giggle and giggle each time we find the elf in a different place in the morning.)

Same here! Our elf will jump on Santa's sleigh after he has been with the pressie's. But he will be leaving ds a small present and a letter to say thankyou in his elfy box! :)

I've never heard of an elf on a shelf

pigleychez · 22/12/2011 15:45

usualsuspect -Its an American tradition thats finding its way over here. A little elf is sent by Santa to watch the children. Every night his magic makes him fly back to the North pole to report back to Santa. He is abit mischievous and is found in various different places and up to all sorts.

Ive been keeping a blog on our Elf
elfyescapades.blogspot.com/ The girls are only 3 and 19mths but love it!
