In addition to.

I personally really like buying for stockings - and my daughter and stepson are 16 and 24, can't imagine stopping any time soon.

YANBU - it's all a personal tradition really, if you haven't bothered so far I am sure it won't matter.

depends on who you are buying for and what they are expecting Smile I have no stocking fillers, but then my DH isn't expecting any, neither is my DS aged 2. Think I might next year though.

If you don't do stockings then don't do them. My family never did stockings.

When I moved in with DP I discovered the wonderful world of cheap tat buying..

DS 12yo and dd 9.6 yo.

Stockings give you that all important peace and quiet for half an hour when they wake up and I'm not ready to haul my butt out of bed yet.

They have to be wrapped- well wrapped with loads of Sellotape- to buy extra time. Xmas Wink

Stocking fillers in our house are part of the budget so neither in addition to or instead of main presents. If you don't usually bother, then don't, everyone's traditions are different, but I personally love doing stockings!

TheTinselsTheWrongColour · 21/12/2011 18:39

stocking fillers here are usually a mixture of useless cheap tat with some socks thrown in and for dd apparently I can buy cheap body spray and nail polish to keep her quiet

I agree with Lord they give you some peace and quiet before they rampage into your room to show you all the mindless tat Xmas Grin

but like others have said if they are not a tradition in your house then why bother starting,I only do them as I had them as a child

I have upgraded content but reduced the amount as mine have got older. My dd2 (16) has taken control of buying stockings for dh and me for the past few years.
