Wow, my 2nd "help me find a gift" thread in one day!

So, DSCs coming over tomorrow for their Xmas visit, and DSS just asked if his GF can come and stay too!

Very excited we will be meeting her, as we haven't so far in their 9 months together, mainly because DSS is very busy with work.

So what can we get her that I can pick up in town tomorrow? Probably about a fiver. DSS did say don't worry about it but I'd like to get a little something as she will be here while the others are opening stuff.

Not toiletries/make up as she works in that type of shop. I'm wondering about a necklace or something but having never met her I have NO clue what she would like Confused

I tunes voucher? Or find out from DSS if she has any hobbies and buy her something related maybe? Ooh, a scarf or some nice gloves? Although I'm nearly 30 so no idea what kinds of scarves/gloves an 18yo might wear

andaPontyinaPearTreeeeee · 19/12/2011 21:45

Well, according to spectacularly unhelpful DSS she likes Winnie the Pooh. :o

I would say primark pajamas but that could offend if you got the wrong size :o

Something nice from Thorntons
A book or a nice diary.
Gloves or a scarf

VoldemortsNipple · 19/12/2011 21:51

Pooh bear stationary

hellhasnofury · 19/12/2011 21:52

Nice gloves from New Look always go down well with DD and her friends.

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 19/12/2011 21:58

Do not buy lace knickers.

No no no

[scarred for life face]

andaPontyinaPearTreeeeee · 19/12/2011 23:25

Shock wtf?!?

EverybodysSnowyEyed · 19/12/2011 23:44

oh yes - boyfriends mum thought it would be very appropriate to give the 18 yr old gf of her 18 yr old son, who had been dating for 2 months, a 3 pack of lace knickers.

So wrong

Anyway, enough of my trauma - if she likes winnie the pooh why not nip down to the disney shop and get her a little something there

ToxicMoxie · 20/12/2011 00:08

I thought at first that GF was GrandFather! I was like, wtf, his grandfather is 18?!?!

ok, well how about a Pooh jumper? I like the idea of stationary, but a lot of kids don't write due to electronical communications.

andaPontyinaPearTreeeeee · 20/12/2011 00:09

Thanks ESE - now I can buy a little something knowing that whatever it is, it cannot possibly be as inappropriate as lacy knickers :o

If she likes Whinnie then I would go for a WTP note pad and pen.

nice and cheap, totally none offensive given he has said she likes them and useful too.

plus you can probably pick them up anywhere from WH smiths to Waitrose

quirrelquarrel · 20/12/2011 13:00

I'd say something from Shared Earth- most people like the stuff in there, it's pretty reasonably price too- cushion covers at £7.99! Or a hanging chime or nice candle or something with a bar of chocolate.

Bonsoir · 20/12/2011 13:13

Get her a book.

andaPontyinaPearTreeeeee · 20/12/2011 16:24

I did suggest a book but apparently she doesn't read :o

I went for a nice hardback wtp notebook in the end, if nothing else it'll be useful for school :)

Thanks all Flowers now just trying to not be nervous - we've never met any GF of DSS's before, in my head he's still about 12...

How about an enormous stuffed Tigger?

Pagwatch · 20/12/2011 16:31

I bought ds girlfriend a mug with angel wings and a pretty flask for her to take hot chocolate to early morning lectures.

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 20/12/2011 16:36

A mug.

andaPontyinaPearTreeeeee · 21/12/2011 20:14

She really liked the notebook and said that she had been wanting a new one for school stuff :)

And she is really lovely :o
