How can I make mince pie ice cream? I haven't got an ice cream maker

Can I just make it by letting some decent vanilla stuff go soft, and then mashing up some mince pies in in, and then re-freezing it, or is that a monumentally stupid and disgusting idea?

Actually, forget about the whole thing. Suet worms has just put me right off mince pies Grin

Go on, do xmas pud ice-cream instead.

Tried to make mince pie ice cream last year (with an ice cream maker). Didn't work, ended up with sludgy mince pie mess - still ate a good bit of it though Xmas Grin tasted great just couldn't serve it up to anyone.

Sainsburys do indeed sell mince pie ice cream, if I were you I would go down that route! Failing that I don't see that stirring some bits of mince pie through vanilla ice cream wouldn't have the desired effect with loads of Baileys poured over it, yum

Easy peasy Grin

the tiniest xmas pudding you can buy - think 89p - plus a litre of Kelly's cornish vanilla ice cream = top dollar xmas pud ice cream:

cook xmas pud in micro per instructions, let it cool
get scissors and chop xmas pud into weenie pieces
take lid off ice cream, turn it into a big bowl (ta-dah! no, stop it, we are not doing magic tricks tonight) I mean scoop all the ice cream into a big bowl, beat in the chopped pud, then place all into larger lidded freezer tub* and straight into the freezer til you want to eat

DEEEE-lish

  • because the volume with the added pud will be too big for the original tub

Sainsbos do Xmas pudding ice cream and its lovely.

You can make your own mincemeat with no suet, its really easy.
