Every shop I go in is playing Fairytale of New York, and it seems to be everyone's favourite?

This is what I will mainly be listening to in the run up to Christmas, what's your festive favourite?

Warning- lyrics not suitable if DCs are in earshot Xmas Grin

Sorry, my fav is Fairytale of New York. Xmas Blush It is the lines:

You took my dreams from me.

I kept them with my own.

Can't do it all alone.

I build my dreams around yours.

They get me every time.

We have got ds (7) the Twisted Christmas cd though Xmas Grin

I'll admit to Mariah Carey all I want for christmas is youuuuuuu! Love it, know its cheesier than a ripe stilton but still, the opening notes make me tingle with christmas joy Xmas Grin

Also really like O holy night and

I love Carol of the Bells too! Celtic woman do the best version though

NoWayNoHow · 14/12/2011 23:04

I'm partial to a bit of by Chris Rea, and (never really got why that was a Christmas song, though)

I could also listen to Bing and Bowie doing all day every day!

JoyceDivision · 14/12/2011 23:06

I adore this version of O come Emmanual, Jim Moray rocks!

ChristmasRose · 14/12/2011 23:08

Also love Dean Martins "Let it snow"- its so cheery!

scentednappyhag · 14/12/2011 23:11

I get unreasonably distressed by the songs that are in NO WAY christmassy, but everyone pretends they are eg Stay Another Day- East 17. Bah.

Santa claus is coming to town

'The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear' :D

oreocrumbs · 14/12/2011 23:21

Christmasrose I'm listening to the celtic woman version now and agree its beautiful!

scentednappyhag Totally agree about songs like the east 17 one, I always feel a bit conned when they put them on christmas albums.

witherhills · 14/12/2011 23:24

HoHoHoldsilver · 14/12/2011 23:27

Another Carol of Bells here - took years of me searching to find out what it was actually called - found it eventually in a film credit, think it was National Lampoons Christmas Vacation Xmas Grin

KikkiK · 14/12/2011 23:28

As of today, it's I Want A Hippopotamus for Christmas! Xmas Grin
Have a look on YouTube for it, you won't be disappointed .

Thanks oreocrumbs! Xmas Blush Xmas Grin

nothingoldcanstay · 14/12/2011 23:39

Love the Carol of the bells but hate the Celtic women version. They are so up tight - all shoulders backs, tight smiles , wow we're so... whatever. Apart from the violin lady who actually gives it some. Love Coventry Carol and Time Traveller by CDB. Emotive is the way forward.

oreocrumbs · 14/12/2011 23:41

oh kikkik I have eaten nearly a full box of after eights and now I'm on to my third playing of this song and I'm getting a bit delerious! DP actually came down to see whats wrong as I have uncontrolable giggles!

Thats the best song I've heard in ages!! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

befuzzled · 14/12/2011 23:44

Has anyone said Dominick the Donkey yet?

Fairly crap song but we love it in this house at Christmas. Well, the dc and I do, DP hates it - it's his name - hence why the children and his workmates love singing it at him.

KikkiK · 14/12/2011 23:45

It's fab, isn't it?! I'm going to go and listen to it again now! I can't believe I had never heard it until today.

stayformulledwine · 14/12/2011 23:46

weird one but mine is mudd - lonely this christmas! Has been for years and I am never lonely at christmas! I used to work in pc world and it was played all the time, I just ended up adoring it. :)

oreocrumbs · 14/12/2011 23:50

oh God befuzzled I can't take any more I've just snorted coke (the sugary drink variety) listening to this! Xmas Grin

WhoopsyLa · 14/12/2011 23:52

I like In The Bleak Mid Winter...The Holly and the Ivy and God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen....so ye olde figgy pudding that I want a muff and a bonnet to go carol singing in!

WhoopsyLa · 14/12/2011 23:58

NoWay your link to David Bowie and Bing just got me feeling the FIRST bit of Christmas spirit that I have felt this year! Thanks so much! I have been looking for it everywhere! Xmas Grin Xmas Grin Xmas Grin

ChristmasRose · 15/12/2011 00:01

I do wish shops would play the nicer and more peaceful traditonal stuff.

All that "bopping around the Christmas tree" get right on me nerves!
