My younger daughter is 22 months and this seems the best age ever for a toddler to have Christmas Xmas Smile. She just helped me decorate the Christmas tree while singing Happy Birthday to herself (her favourite song at the moment). I store Christmas and Easter decorations in the same blanket box... you can probably guess what happened Xmas Grin Xmas Grin. I will retrieve the Easter eggs when she's having a nap later Grin. She is also very impressed by the nativity set and keeps putting the baby Jesus to bed... I wasn't in the mood for Christmas so far but this morning has made me happy Smile. Wishing you all a merry toddler Christmas!!

Awww, she's just put the baby Jesus into the doll's house so he has a proper cot to sleep in.... Xmas Grin
Too early for mulled Wine?

A little too early - wait til midday at least Xmas Grin. My 15mo Boy has just noticed the tree properly today and spent half the morning twizzling the baubles Xmas Hmm

BlackCatinaSantaHat · 12/12/2011 11:59

My 3 yr old asks for the lights on as soon as she gets up every morning.
She likes batting the baubles like a kitten Xmas Smile
She was soo excited when we decorated the Christmas tree.

Can't wait for Christmas morning!

Happy Christmas all!Xmas Smile

RedNoseBabyGiraffes · 12/12/2011 12:47

Well, it's after midday so here's some mulled Wine and I think I have some Stollen and Lebkuchen left... Xmas Grin

Lovely. My 28 month old has spent a happy morning making salt dough decorations and painting with stencils. The fact that she was so sweet is helping me through the nap refusal we're having at this moment! A train to see Santa this afternoon - had hoped for a happy mood, but we'll see!

MamaPizzaChristmasToppings · 12/12/2011 13:03

Aw, bless her. Loving the idea of Jesus being in a dolls house bed Xmas Grin

My 27 month old DS has taken a special liking to a small bauble with a bell inside. He constantly wears it as earring by putting it around his ear. The other day I even had to drop him off at nursery with that bauble around his ear Xmas Hmm

mistressploppy · 12/12/2011 13:05

Totally with you, OP, isn't it lovely? It's impossible to be bah humbug with an excited tot around. DS is 25mo and keeps erupting with 'it's merry Christmas-time!' and the odd chunk of 'Jingle Bells'

Your DD sounds adorable.

Am Xmas Envy of your mulled wine (am 7m pregnant) but a virtual Wine will do. It's a shame there isn't a [mince pie] emoticon Xmas Grin

RedNoseBabyGiraffes · 12/12/2011 13:08

Love the bauble as earring idea Smile. And painting with stencils
dd is pretty good with playdough (rolling out, cutting out shapes etc)... I may try making biscuits with her but she may be a bit too young. I'm sure she'd like decorating them though with icing and glittery things Smile

17 month old DD has spent the morning demolishing the tree that DP spent hours poncifying Saturday night Grin

RedNoseBabyGiraffes · 12/12/2011 13:11

Ahhh, mistressploppy I think you can get mulled wine flavour tea! I'm Xmas Envy of you being pregnant... Xmas Grin (dh refuses to have a third... Sad)
Sending you a nice Brew and christmassy Xmas Biscuit Smile

Oooh, loving the cotton wool snowman pic idea, Joyful - I may nick that.

I've found some lovely mulled wine squash that I'm having hot; yum

3duracellbunnies · 12/12/2011 13:51

Ds is 26 months and love advent calendar, lights on the tree and embarassing me by singing the batman smells version of jingle bells at sainsburys, don't you just love it when older siblings teach them what they have learnt at school. Bah humbug! He is cute when singing it though!

lucysmam · 12/12/2011 21:05

All I have to say is ....."pretty pretty balls" a la dd2 (23m) they make a very good substitution for a football in this house Grin

RedNoseBabyGiraffes · 13/12/2011 08:09

lucysmam Grin Well, baby Jesus has now been given a dolls' house cot and dolls' house teddy bear.... Wink. Can't have him sleep in a manger, can we...

The mulled wine tea used to be sold at Whittards. You can have it hot or cold. It's really nice actually. Also pg here. I've discovered some rather nice mulled apple juice too.

tiredfeet · 13/12/2011 08:20

Totally agree, ds is 14 months and for the first time in years I'm really loving christmas again. Every time we get a christmas card he bounces with excitement when I open the envelope with him, then shrieks with delight and runs round the room batting it against his head Grin
He also loves all the christmas lights outside peeople's houses, and whoops with joy when we go past them.

Mmm like the sound of mulled apple juice, where can you get that from?

CharminglyOdd · 13/12/2011 08:53

We had a Christmas party at the weekend and the 14mo was attracted to the tree like a magnet. Nothing could separate him. At first (although me & DP weren't bothered about him destroying anything - it's only a tree) his parents pulled him away but I looked up halfway through and he'd sneaked off and was sat happily in front of it poking at the lights and pulling the baubles off to roll along the floor. It was the look of Absolute Concentration that made me Grin

I found some mulled juice in Sainsbury's last week - it's called 'red grape with a hint of (I think) clove' and is amazing if you zap it in the microwave.

lucysmam · 13/12/2011 13:56

RedNoseBabyGiraffes That sounds like something dd2 would have done if I could find my nativity scene this year. Think I may have packed it away "in a safe place" last year, just I have no idea where it is lol, I bet baby Jesus will be very comfy in the cot with the teddy bear Grin

RedNoseBabyGiraffes · 13/12/2011 13:58

lucysmam He's now vanished... I think the baby Jesus now lives in the dolls' house... Hmm Maybe I should have waited to put out the nativity scene Xmas Grin

Aaw, that's very sweet, he'd end up on a shelf in our house or down the back of the sofa at some point, but dd2 would remember for weeks to come where he was while we were baffled. Does it all the time with random things
