DH loves books.
we could start a library, but alas, we run out of room and i think we have charity shopped more books than enough.

he did say at one point he wanted a kindle.
then he couldnt decide cos he likes books...

so ive just splurged and bought myself some stuff for xmas...
so now ive got to even the score and get him something else

so my question is

Kindle. I love books. DH loves books. But we both love our Kindles too

lucysmam · 11/12/2011 22:06

I'm getting one this year. Also love books (have read over a hundred this year alone) but we have zero space left for the real deal & I don't want to get rid of any.

[dead excited]

I just got one for my birthday. I love books (think DP got or for me in the hope no more books will be comin into the house... haha) & hadn't had any interest in a kindle before... But I do really like it & can see myself using it a fair bit. I have one of the new cheap ones, perfect IMO.

Kindle.

We bought three in the summer and are adding two this Christmas, not to mention my iPad.

We have a ridiculous number of books, and our bookshelves are heaving. No more!

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/12/2011 22:16

thing is i kind of like my heaving bookshelves....

in fact, we were just gonna get more built.

so if i want to get him a book for the kindle how do i do it?

kindle. definitely.

FWIW, putting it in a nice cover (I have the amazon own leather version with light) makes it feel a lot more book-ish.

I am not sure I would like the experience so much if it was coverless (although would 'put up with it' (!) because it is so fabulously convenient), but just the act of opening the cover, and the leather smell, makes it 'real' enough for me (dedicated book lover, with a houseful - moving house soon, and some will have to go )

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/12/2011 22:27

we lost loads of books in our house move....

so the consensus is that i should go for it then?

OP posts:
lucysmam · 11/12/2011 22:40

yep, go for it! He can still buy the 'book' version of something he really wants or enjoys reading can't he

I plan to still buy book books iyswim but the convenience of storing so many in one little devicey thingy....brilliant!

ThatVikRinA22 · 11/12/2011 22:54

well, ive done it.

he'd better like it. or else. this is to sooth my conscience for buying myself silk undies for him to pretend he bought me..blimey.
