What should I get my boys for Christmas, aged nearly 9 and 7?

We are struggling this year to think of something and it doesn't help that their birthdays are next week too! Any suggestions?

I am sure you have already thought of Lego , meccano etc, what about scooter, watch, air fix models , electronics set , remote / radio control anything, playmobil, sports stuff , DVDs , alarm clock / radio/ mp3 player , camera , flip camcorder, fishing rod , scaelectrix , nerf guns....

Dd1 (7 and a tom boy) is getting Lego, bakugan, some books and dvd's, a drawing tablet for the pc and pokemon for the ds. She really wants a nurf gun but i havn't got her one as the dog would be petrified of it .

spy equipment - camera pen or camera watch, motion sensor, binoculars etc
robots - huge variety available, hexbugs came out quite recently
microscope, telescope, periscope, (you get the idea)
stilts
magnetic dart board
musical instrument and lessons
