You haven't mentioned price so will just go on what I'd look for in my type of price range (£50-£100) Grin

I like John Lewis for choosing handbags, can always find something I like there

This Radley one my fav on their site.

Or Radley again.

Kew have some nice bags too.

shinybaubles · 08/12/2011 15:36

That is normally my price range too Mrs Hankey but DH has said his budget us around 700 Xmas Shock Xmas GrinXmas Blush - which means I'm not sure what I should be looking at.

FestiveFriedaWassailsAgain · 08/12/2011 19:29

mm bayswater, a classic I would go for this, with your budget.

justabigdisco · 08/12/2011 19:31

Mmm definitely go Mulberry Envy

gregssausageroll · 08/12/2011 20:10

Lucky you but I agree bayswater would be a classic and will last forever and never date.

shinybaubles · 09/12/2011 08:33

I know we have 5 very broke years and things are begining to turn around finally so I get a pressie - yipee.
I do like the hobo and the bayswater - I am a sahm so nothing to formal would work with my clothes etc. Are they really worth the money?

OP posts:
Katisha · 09/12/2011 08:38

DOes he really have to spend that much?
What about the Modalu Pippa comes in lots of colours, very now...

Fairyloo · 09/12/2011 08:44

£700 for a bag for Christmas Envy

That's just under 6 months shopping allowance for me and dd!!!

Fairyloo · 09/12/2011 08:44

Food shopping I mean

shinybaubles · 09/12/2011 08:47

I know Fairyloo - but during the last 5 years I had to sell all my jewellery even my engagement ring when we have struggled with money, it has been really tough and I think this is his way of saying thankyou.

ELR · 09/12/2011 09:35

Coach do nice bags

shinybaubles · 09/12/2011 09:39

ELR - do you know what they cost approx as my sis was also suggesting them but can't find any info on price, as although have a good budget would prefer to spend less

I was in Coach yesterday and saw a few lovely bags. Also Anya Hindmarch has a lovely navy blue bag. Mulberry have classic styles that wont date.

SantasENormaSnob · 09/12/2011 11:01
Envy

whatever you get I hoe you enjoy it, sounds like you deserve it Smile

ujjayi · 09/12/2011 11:05

Can I just take a moment to rave about the Bayswater? :o

DH bought one for me for Christmas approximately 8 years ago. It is the bag I have used the most. And the more worn it gets the better it looks. The leather is exceptional quality. I too am a SAHM and I have used that bag more than another other. It is my everyday bag. There is no point in having such a beautiful bag just to use for special occasions because, let's face it, they don't come around that often. They are very roomy and when opened to full capacity, I have even used it as a weekend bag. It is classic and won't date.

shinybaubles · 09/12/2011 11:10

Thankyou Santasenormasnob.

uijayi - glad to hear the positive review -can I ask did you get a sensible colour?

OP posts:
ujjayi · 09/12/2011 11:25

Mine isn't a terribly sensible colour - it is a deep red. But it is beautiful

I should also add that I am not usually interested in handbags and I am certainly not a labels snob. But this really is the business :)

2kidsintow · 09/12/2011 11:28

Blimey! I'd be saying "Stuff the handbag, can you replace my engagement ring!"

shinybaubles · 09/12/2011 12:02

2kidsintow - since selling it I have realised that we're the same with it or without - and we have survived a really difficult time - and I need a bag.

OP posts:
shinybaubles · 09/12/2011 12:04

uijayi - I also have no interest in labels - but I do fancy a mulberry and I am really uncomfortable spending the money - what to do? too many choices.

OP posts:
BettyBedlam · 09/12/2011 12:05

Try Style and Beauty - they have long threads re handbags there.

ujjayi · 09/12/2011 12:20

if it helps at all, I am incredibly uncomfortable spending large amounts on any one single item too. It makes me anxious and I feel that I need to be more certain than ever that it is the object that I truly want. I think as the budget has been allocated already, you need to take a deep breath and sink the cash into whatever your heart desires right now. You aren't taking money away from anything else (i.e. mortgage, food budget etc) so try and enjoy the experience. But I do absolutely understand your angst.

As BettyBedlam says, Style & Beauty is handbag fanatic central at times :o I am sure you will get plenty of advice there.
