Just musing...

I'm a lights on first person.

The tinsel and stuff will hide the wires.

lights first, thats the way dp does it and then he tucks in the wires, arranges and then decorated all while i am supervising mumsnetting on the sofa Xmas Grin

Lights first.

No tinsel here though. Although I do like that lamella stuff. Seems to 'lift' the tree and shimmer.

Lights should be first, you can't get the decorations on properly otherwise and see all the wires.

Exception is tinsel which I think should go on before the lights, its difficult to get the tinsel on after the lights without covering some of the bulbs which could be a hazard.

I don't have tinsel though.

So I think it should go

  1. Tinsel ( if you have it)
  2. Lights
  3. Decorations
:)

That should say you can't get the lights on properly if the decorations are already on -

First, otherwise you end up knocking baubles off getting lights on. And the wires show more.

Ooh, must remember to buy more lights before tree purchase on Sat.

First, then decorations on so that they don't touch lights.

Con.

We concur again ! Xmas Grin

Lights first.

Then tinsel.

Then baubles.

Then other decs.

lights then decs but never tinsel.

ChristinedePizanne · 07/12/2011 19:05

Lights, (paucity of) tinsel, baubles/decs.

I think my tree is too tasteful this year :(

WhatWouldLeoDo · 07/12/2011 19:08

Lights first - too awkward to put on after the decorations. No tinsel here, so baubles etc afterwards then some strings of silver beads draped around. Star/angel whatever goes on last and then the big light switch on followed by some re-arranging of the lights
