have nothing for him yet. I am crap at coming up with ideas. Feel bad when I read on another thread how some of u have saved up for ages to get smthg really special that they will love. I am totally at a loss. No set amount in mind, just want to get something he will love, but obviously not cost the earth, as I'm a sahm. Ideas pretty please as with newborn & toddler i' m sleep deprived and can't think and not able to get out shopping much . Tia

I have found with my dh asking is the only way to success. However some ideas anyway
1 -practical yet boring things - socks, slippers, gloves, etc
2- Entertainment stuff- board games, music , dvds, books
3- Gadget geek stuff - 1remote thing, mobile, computer games,
4 - does he have any hobbies - cooking, gardening, sports etc.

shinybaubles · 07/12/2011 08:29

Saying this I have bought dh nothing so far this year - lol - although everyone else is sorted. I recommend shopping online, much easier with two little ones.

CroissantNeuf · 07/12/2011 08:32

DP still claims the best thing I ever bought for him is a Leatherman multi-tool. He uses it loads.

I think they cost around £60-80 but are worth it if your DH is likely to use it. They have different 'bits' on them so you need to work out which model is most suited.

Dh has clothes and a new (expensive) electric toothbrush. Not particularly exciting but practical!

Previous years he has had liked - mug with a photo of the dcs on, designer jeans (hadn't had these since pre-dcs), cashmere jumper, books about/by sportsmen he likes, new overcoat. I have always liked the cuff links you can get with fingerprints of dcs on each one but Dh cannot wear cufflinks, so I have never been able to get them.

I also wrap up necessities (toiletries, socks, underwear) he uses just to bump up his 'pile'.

this year he has a watch, but he has had and loved and still plays with remote control helicoptor, the small indoors ones. we have bought a maze steering wheel thing for a friend and i had to fight to get it off him so i could wrap it, so i may get him one of these as well its from boots £15

I've got my DH (30) a new badminton racket, a bottle of Morgan's Spiced Rum, a new coat and other bits of clothing.

For his stocking (cos we're still big kids!) I'm giving him a chocolate orange, shower gel, a Rubik's Cube, socks and a goodie bag filled with old-style sweets. i may add to this if I see other bits.

Kids have already wrapped an extra large packet of Jaffa Cakes and put it under the tree for him!

iloveberries · 07/12/2011 09:59

you can get keyrings with the fingerprints of the DCs on??
or what about a photobook with lovely family pics of him and the DCs on?
Men are impossible aren't they??!!!

what about a nice camo jacket for fishing, there is some new bait out, will have to ask dp later, but it hit the market and sold really quick, but that was a few months ago, so should be instock again by now. dp also loves fishing

fairimum · 07/12/2011 18:28

min is having the kids handprints on cuff links (which he asked for)
couple of xbox games
couple of books
a new drill
drill bits!

SootySweepandSue · 07/12/2011 18:30

Magazine subscription ? Mine loves his Mixmag...

nerfmum · 07/12/2011 18:41

we decided not to give each other pressys as we need a new tv and every spare penny needs to go towards that. But reading this makes me feel a bit sad, I like wrapping up socks to give him from the kids.

countdowntoxmas · 07/12/2011 20:28

I read somewhere in the Xmas section about wallets and satchels made from recycled rubber tyres. Does anyone know where I can find these?

Daftapath · 08/12/2011 16:22

Countdown if you google 'wallet recycled tyre' there are a few websites that sell them.
