I have decided to do a hamper this year for df of mine and her family who have had rotten financial luck recently so wanted to treat them. Don't normally give anything for Xmas at all and it's going to hopefully be a lovely surprise Smile
so have got/am getting
Hotel chocolat choccies
Lindt santas for the dcs
Wine
Posh olives (I loathe them butthey love them in a big way!)
Selection nice cheeses and biscuits

What else could I put in? Would like to put some kind of treat things eg voucher for beautician , maybe a family DVD?? Got a bit stuck! Pretty sure there must be other foodie bits too but can't think what!
Please help!!! Xxx

That sounds lovely OP!

How about something like nice jam/marmalade/honey? Drinking chocolate and some marshmallows? Nice coffee/tea?

Could you get them a Love Film voucher? (don't know if they actually exist or if you have to subscribe!) so they could choose a film to watch?

belcantwait · 06/12/2011 21:58

Ooh good ideas rufous thanks Smile
hmm dunno about love film voucher as we subscribe though maybe could get blockbuster voucher?? Wonder even if such things exist!!

Waitrose voucher sounds fab, as does Lovefilm credits/voucher (if it exists)

GypsyMoth · 06/12/2011 21:59

Don't forget the Branston!!

But seriously, it sounds LOVELY!

TheRealMBJ · 06/12/2011 22:00

What a nice thing to do btw Smile

Hassledge · 06/12/2011 22:03

Posh tea/coffee?
Some nice soft drink - the sort you wouldn't normally buy. There are loads of nice ones out there - like Schloer (sp) but nicer.
You can get some nice jars of antipasto bits - peppers in oil etc?

rhondajean · 06/12/2011 22:06

I would love it if someone did this for me. Its really thoughtful.

Maybe a nice candle and some lovely bath oil?

yousankmybattleship · 06/12/2011 22:06

What a lovely idea! I hate Hotel Chocolat chocs but maybe that's just me! What about some nice olive oil?

belcantwait · 06/12/2011 22:07

Lovelyideas thank you

I just don't want them to feel like they're missing out thus year, her dh has lost his job and although he has found more it's minimum wage stuff and shitty hours :( she just sounded so down the other day. I can't really help out much but thought that it might cheer them up a bit when they won't be able to afford the luxury things that we tend to take for granted ESP at Xmas

Have you got an ice ring in town, you could get vouchers for, do they can treat the dcs over the holiday or a small production panto (with cheap tickets)

Food items I would include would be, nice pate and crackers, a big tin of sweets, microwave popcorn (to go with DVD) nuts, things that only go in the trolley on a Christmas shop.

PeanutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 07/12/2011 08:40

some nice shortbread Xmas Grin

mumeeee · 07/12/2011 08:40

That sounds lovely OP. I agree about Waitrose voucher. What about cinema vouchers?

Daftapath · 07/12/2011 08:55

Yes, a tin of Heroes/Quality Street and popcorn to go with DVD.

Scented candle? Bubble bath?

Mince pies, Christmas pudding.

Biscuits.

UNO.
