Er, thread title says it all really

Yup. It's like opening the chocolates before you give them to your mum.

Albrecht · 05/12/2011 22:34

You are just checking it works surely?

MayaAngelCool · 05/12/2011 22:36

Grin I admire your cheek, OP, but YES you know it's wrong! Grin

winnybella · 05/12/2011 22:36

Hmm, they will see that it's not in the plastic wrap anymore and may be bit pissed off? I don't think it's morally wrong, though Grin

unless you've bought it 'pre-loved' or whatever the poncey way of saying 2nd hand is, then yes, it's wrong

would you give the person a dvd you've watched from your own collection? this should be your guide, i reckon

Xmas Smile
Hassledge · 05/12/2011 22:38

Yes. Don't break the plastic. It will look shit and they will judge you for it.

yellowflowers · 05/12/2011 22:55

Busted!!

yellowflowers · 05/12/2011 23:09

Not even bought it yet. Only way I can justify buying it (we're economising) is if it then becomes a Christmas present.

Going to look for it for myself in eBay now...

Is it a newly released film? If not - I've bought a couple of pre-loved ones from Amazon - from Lovefilm, i.e. used ex-rentals and they have all been in perfect condition.

ChaosTrulyReigns · 05/12/2011 23:13

Which film is it yellow?

gallicgirl · 05/12/2011 23:17

Nope.

We often buy second-hand dvds for friends. DP and his mate are film buffs and regularly scour charity shops for old films to give as presents.

yellowflowers · 05/12/2011 23:28

Nativity.
Is just £4.99 on amazon but we are really trying to reign in our spending. Maybe I will get it for best mate (that is who I was planning to give it to) and then borrow it from her in new year. Though I kind of want to watch it before Christmas. I checked at library today but not in their DVD collection.
I will check tv listings for Christmas period first though.

WhoIsThatMaskedWoman · 05/12/2011 23:50

Could be worse. I've bought a BluRay for FIL with the intention of snaffling the DVD that comes with it for myself - now that is cheeky.

snice · 05/12/2011 23:57

Nativity is the Odeon Kids club film just before Christmas at our local so you could go and see it there cheap if its on at yours

kipperandtiger · 06/12/2011 00:34

Ask your DP/kids to get it for you as a present?

MumGoneCrazy · 06/12/2011 00:51

Ooh that's on sky box office at moment, I was thinking about ordering that tonight but went for ku fung panda 2 instead Grin

JustifiedAncientOfMuMu · 06/12/2011 00:52

Can you not download it illegally ?

startail · 06/12/2011 00:59

DMum and I did this with books. I often read her present and then gave it her when
I went home for the weekend.
