Sorry if this has been done before
DS is 'average' size for his 4.5 years, as in he looks similar to his peers ... maybe a little on taller side...
Should we get a 14 or 16 inch bike for christmas ?
I would like him a get a few years out of it.
Thanks

Staff at Halfords were very helpful when we bought DS's first proper bike. I think DS got a 16in at age5. They actually said 'no, not that one the seat doesn't go much higher'. No pressure to buy fancy one. Also had better choice than Toys R Us.

Yeah, go for the 16"

I bought this off amazon last christmas, really good quality (and half what you'd pay at halfords!)

16 if you want a few years out of it, 14 if you want to get rid of the stabilisers sooner rather than later.

i got dd the 14" but she is a petite 4 and i didnt want to go too big because she needs weight behind her to peddle - best to try them out at halfords - even if buying elsewhere

thanks so much for the replies - will try him out in halfords.
Chocolaterainbow I had seen that sonic bike ... he wants a BLUE one .... not an easy find at the moment .. there s plenty of green and red but hardly any blue

super thanks!

Not sure of your budget but check out Islabikes. Measure Ds, most importantly inside leg. Bikes are true to the measurements on the website. Expensive but hold their value very well for resale...
