Do you lot know NOTHING about Fathers Christmas?

All this fussing about how to explain where presents come from, why you have to thank people when they came from FC? Are none of you properly versed in the Christmas truth?

FC brings the presents that go in the stockings. Presents under the tree are from everyone else.

Glad we got that sorted.

Not in my house or the house I grew up in!

Millicano · 04/12/2011 00:45

nor mine

FC brings the lot in mine. all under the tree

ILoveShinyThings · 04/12/2011 00:46

In our house the presents under the tree are from family and us as parents.
Father Christmas brings the stocking fillers and the presents in the sacks that the children leave out for him.

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 04/12/2011 00:48

Sacks and stockings?! Lucky children!

ILoveShinyThings · 04/12/2011 00:51

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops - Sounds more glamourous than it is. The stocking fillers are normally about 5 items from the pound shop and the presents in the sack are normally about 10 in number and range from £5 to £20 in cost each between them so £100 per child more or less.

youngermother1 · 04/12/2011 01:05

But that is still £100 per child from FC and more from parents. In this house parents outspend FC, which means no more than £10 from FC.

ILoveShinyThings · 04/12/2011 01:09

Their presents from parents cost about £20 each so FC outspends parents although 2 of my 5 DC know the truth as they are older.

HoHoHoldsilver · 04/12/2011 01:25

I'm with you loopy to some extent, the stocking and the main present (ie one from the list) is from FC. The rest are from family. As DS has said, why would MIL give a present to FC to give to him when she just lives round the corner [too smart for his own good]

Mind you DS does get a very small Birthday present (just a token present) and card from FC too, as it's his Birthday on Christmas Day Xmas Smile

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 04/12/2011 01:38

No, no, no. FC does the stocking, and also leaves a small pile of pressies that are too big to go in the stocking next to the fireplace.

Presents from me and grandparents are given later.

To be honest, I'm a bit pissed off with him taking most of the credit.

LoopyLoopsWoopDeWoops · 04/12/2011 01:38

Ah, mine are too young for lists.

DD (2.5) met FC the other day. He was scary. He asked her "what do you want for Xmas?" and she screamed and ran. Grin

leftmymistletoeatthedoor · 04/12/2011 07:17

Look, FC does stocking and one present and he decides if you've been good enough to get presents and tells people what to buy.
This is quite clearly how it works so can everyone stop pissing about and pretending they don't know what I'm talking about.

PontyMython · 04/12/2011 07:39

I'm with you Loopy - last year (the first time DD really 'got' Xmas) after looking at several heated MN threads we agreed FC does the stocking. Quite a good stocking though I must say, basically gifts that are small in size but that we would have got them anyway IYSWIM. This year though we have amended it so FC also brings their main present for them to share - a dressing up box this year. Everything else is from us.

PattySimcox · 04/12/2011 07:46

Agree why should FC take all the glory for all my hard work?

Besides it stops the crazily impossible requests like "pet unicorn that can really fly" cos one of her friends said Santa can bring you anything as he's so magic

twooter · 04/12/2011 07:50

Exactly loopy.

scaevola · 04/12/2011 07:52

Can we also have a sweepstake on how often this thread will be done this year?

I think is is the second or third version.

(PS: this is not said to inhibit people from starting threads, nor from any particular dislike of repeat threadsin short timeframes - rather as an additional facet to enjoy).

exoticfruits · 04/12/2011 07:54

It wasn't until I read MN that I had any inkling that FC brought the lot.
If I give a present it is from me-it has nothing to do with FC-luckily no one has ever tried to hijack it.
Agree with OP.

chrimblycompo · 04/12/2011 07:56

Yes same here

Stocking from FC

All other presents from us & family & friends

And they don't get opened until I've had a bath & a coffee

Everyone dressed

No running down at 5am & opening every present - they'd open the ones for me & dh if we're not there to supervise & we need to know who everything is from for thank yous plus we like to take photos

So FC delivers a stocking in the night & I put all other presents under tree at about 10am , put lots in stocking to keep them entertained like this year ds has a nano game on a keyring

MincePieFlavouredVoidka · 04/12/2011 07:57

I am with you Loopy.

In our house FC fills the stockings. I am not letting him take credit for all my hard work :o

chrimblycompo · 04/12/2011 07:58

My daft friend says to dcs 'what do you want for Xmas so I can buy it and send it to FC to deliver'
Then she brings it round & I let them open it while she's here so she gets the pleasure of seeing them open it Hmm FC doesn't deliver every present in our house, oh no

SilveryMoon · 04/12/2011 08:02

You see, this is the first year I'm doing stockings at the end of the bed for the ds's (they are 4yrs and 3yrs), and I have just bought a load of crap from poundshops/hawkins bazaar and similar places.
This stuff wil be wrapped in different paper than the rest of the stuff.
Their main presents this year (play kitchen for ds2 and table football for ds1) will also be from FC and wrapped in his paper, and the other bits (ds games, small world figures etc will be from me and dp)

ScroobiousPip · 04/12/2011 08:02

yy OP.

It's bad enough explaining how FC is going to get in when our fireplace is boarded up ('through the window' just about passed muster this year but I saw DS (3yo) narrow his eyes as he assessed this explanation). Imagine if I had to try and explain that FC climbed down the drainpipe and through the window with a bike in his sack - the myth of FC wouldn't last a year longer. FC brings enough to fill a stocking, no more!

NoGoodAtHousework · 04/12/2011 08:05

OP completely agree! Although my DP disagrees so I may have to settle at a main present from FC as well but I have a couple of years to worry about that anyway!

GwendolineMaryLacedwithBrandy · 04/12/2011 08:06

Loopy speaks sense. One present and a stocking full of tat little surprises from FC and everything else under the tree from family, friends and earned through sweat and tears.

FelixCited · 04/12/2011 08:10

Yes, fc does stockings on beds and a few presents that can't fit in the stocking (a climbing sock) like books etc. these are opened ASAP

Then breakfast and presents under the tree from family

That is the way is has always been-- and will remain in our house !

StarryEyedMama · 04/12/2011 08:11

At last someone's got it right! I think some people are crazy if they make their children believe that FC brings all the presents.

Oh and btw way it's Father Christmas not bloody Santa!
