Talking books, if her eyesight's not good enough for large print?
Plant, preferably one that has a big bright flower and a nice smell? (Ditton on the eyesight)
Cashmere/angora socks? (Circulation problems cause cold hands and feet)
Promise of a trip out? Garden centres are awesome for this - they're usually pretty flat for moving trolleys around and often have lovely cafe's!

My Gran specified no pressies at her 90th earlier this year, says she's got everything she could need - she absolutely loved the helium balloon I got her Grin

MIL (88) is getting a Kindle from us as her eyesight is not so good and she is finding that she can't read her library books Sad.

Our DDs are getting her a photobook and hand cream (Clarins).

Flowers are a good idea. MIL loves freesias because they smell so wonderful.

On the other hand MIL has some silk flowers from this company Bloom dotted around her house and they are beautiful.

My MIL (79) is getting a digital photo frame loaded up with photos of her golden boy and new GC. God knows how it'll go down.

I've got my 84 yr old gran a bird feeder to stick on her window so she can watch the birds.
My other gran, 94, gets a delivery of flowers every month for the year for her birthday and Christmas between my brother and I (the first gran doesn't like flowers btw!)
I did a digital photo frame last year for both grans and they never ever turn them on!

Knackered - love the idea of flowers every month!

Sunday lunch out with you and family?
A family portrait?

CaipirinhasAllRound · 04/12/2011 11:56

Portrait as in one of those professionally done pics

DH's Gran is 91 just before xmas. SIL/BIL and ourselves are taking her for afternoon tea at the Ritz! We live way up North so it's a pretty exciting trip.

I cannot wait to see her face when she opens the posh invite Smile

Just remembered - my 90yo Gran has taken a liking to all that tacky stuff with colour changing LED's in Blush We got her a fake water lily (she grows them in her pond) with one in a few years back, she keeps it on the table in the lounge like an ornament!

We are giving the grandparents memory books from www.pricelesstreasuresonline.co.uk, they have loads of questions in like who was your favourite teacher, how did you get to school etc. Going to get them to fill them in and then give them back to the children. The books are nicely done and the paper feels good quality. We've also given digital photo frames, and they seemed to like them.
