Do you have a 'baking day' with DCs leading up to Christmas?

Mine finish on the 16th. They've got a day out on 17th and we're going shopping on the 18th. Then I've got them for the week (DH working until 23rd)

Mine like to bake, I use it as a maths lesson too, getting them to weigh ingredients.

And DS can crack eggs like a pro Grin

I prefer to do a bake session with DD or DS - if they are together they tend to fight over silly things.
The idea of children round a floury kitchen table sounds idyllic- but is far from the reality.
The only time they agree is when they lick the spoons and bowl

I do it with my two, they're 3 and 4 this year so we can finally get more involved, its chaos a lot of fun. And yes they only agree when its time to clear up with there tongues!

In theory, yes. In practice it's more a case of I do a lot of baking and my dses hover around for long enough to crack an egg, lick a bowl and burn their fingers on whatever comes out of the oven.

Baking with 4 is. Not. Fun. For. Anyone.

[grr]

We do christmas baking together... But a whole day? The thought makes me shudder!

CandyCaner · 02/12/2011 07:49

Yep. It is the only time I ever bake Grin. We have a baking afternoon, usually the weekend after they break up from school, and we make mince pies and various different Christmas cookies.

Lakeland do an amazing cutter set, it's 10 different sized stars so that when you have baked the stars they stack to form a tree

Think it's called 3D Christmas cookies set for £5

I made this with my kids, it looked as good as the advert, amazing present and the recipe they suggest is yummy

No, ds isn't interested at all. Before we moved my niece and nephew would come for the day to make all the christmas cakes and puddings, this year I am going it alone!
