Portable Toys for a 2 year old - Main Christmas Present

Ds is 2. We are going to be abroad for Christmas so I am thinking perhaps a Christmas stocking with lots of little presents. He likes Thomas the Tank Engine so we will give him some little trains but I don't want this to dominate as I am sick of playing with them and can say nothing productive or interesting that is train related I think he needs to broaden his toy horizons.

Any ideas gratefully received!

playmobil 123 noah's ark

I love playmo

Ooh I like that. Can it go in water? There is a little icon on one of the sites that suggest maybe, that would be cool.

All playmo can go in water (unless there are paper stickers etc), some things even have motors. Shock Grin

I bought the playmobil 123 ark in the Sainsburys half price toy sale, £10. Can't wait for ds to play with it.

DS (2) loves drawing - pip squeak lens by crayola plus paper and scissors. Also puzzles. And mini vehicles. Stickers too. A rucksack to carry stuff in? Books?

It's been his birthday recently and the poor kid is FLOODED with books at the moment, got him a collection of 50 Thomas books among others. Too many train books, it's true.. but some others as well.

I asked him last night what he wanted, and he said:
Truck
Big Nee naw
Jeep
Frog
Elephant
Green Mouse (????)
Ricks (bricks)

I'm assuming at 2 he hasn't really got a clue about presents from Santa, though we've watched a few Santa cartoons to give him an idea so I'd love to know what he thinks I am asking him and when he thinks it's going to happen!

What about a pop-up tent type toy, a 'big' present that will go flat in a suitcase. Argos have Chad Valley fire engine with fabric helmet included for the child, it has pop up with support rods assembly; also a multi coloured igloo tent which just pops up.

Tesco direct have a Disney 'Cars' tent, Fireman Sam tent, and a Thomas TTE igloo style tent. The fire engine types might be what he means by a big nee naw? They are all for ages 2+ yrs, good pretend play value.
