My DN is 15 and I have no idea what do get her! DTSs are the same age but cannot enlighten me as to what she might like Hmm
I am thinking definitely not voucher/money as that is what we always resort to. I am completely stumped. Budget is about 35-40 pounds as she is my only niece and I like to spoil her :o
What would you suggest then?

Nice bag? My girl loves Paul's Boutique..look on Bank and PB site for sale offers.

BrigitBigKnickers · 29/11/2011 18:53

My 15 year old DD tells me Jack Wills is very in! Expensive but very good quality.

Whatevertheweather · 29/11/2011 18:55

I got my niece (16) a Disaster Designs bag from here They are gorgeous. My other niece I have got a lovely cardigan from Hollister I took my head torch in with me

PersevareDiabolicum · 29/11/2011 18:56

My 15.5 yo niece will get this compact mirror, some Kenzo Flower perfume and a translation of Pushkin's poems (she is quite bookish and into Russian!).

A good digital radio/alarm for her room

VoldemortsNipple · 29/11/2011 20:43

My DD would love a curling wand for curling her hair. A swatch watch. Skullcandy headphones. Nice perfume. Front cover or urban decay make up set. All between 20 and 40 pounds.

Girls at this age are very particular about fashion, my DD would hate a PB bag. I would stay away from clothes or bags unless she chose it herself.

Pandora ring ? start from about £35 very in here at the moment !

Dr dre beats, mini hair straighteners, all in one pjs, false eyelashes,

upatdawn · 29/11/2011 21:38

Thanks for the replies. I the way she likes to dress is what she would call indie so not really the paul's boutique / Jack Wills style. I do like the suggestion perfume and make up though.
Princess, DS would love some beats but they are so pricey! I'm hoping that they will be in a sale somewhere before his birthday or will be deeply uncool by then

DD1 is 16 and is getting a camera (if I can actually find one). some Kate Moss perfume, a subscription to Glamour magazine, some books and a few 'bits' such as PJs, knickers, socks etc.

DD2 is 14 and is also 'indie.' She's getting a subscription to Kerrang as her main present (it is v expensive) plus a huge book about the filming of Harry Potter plus various 'bits' and some CDs.

I agree that staying away from clothes, bags etc is wise as it is so easy to get wrong. My dds wouldn't like anything from PB, Jack Wills, Hollister etc but would be v pleased with something from Urban Outfitters but even I wouldn't dare buy them clothes tbh. Even if I went to UO and bought something that looked like the sort of thing I'd think they'd like, it would inevitably be wrong!

For a 35 pound budget as a generic gift for a teenage girl I'd say something like:

straighteners or a hairdryer plus some really nice shampoo etc (Tony and Guy maybe?);

Urban Decay or Mac makeup - perhaps a black mascara, a black eyeliner and a neutral lip gloss which can be adapted to whatever her chosen 'look' is. You could also book her a makeover at wherever you buy the make up.

A huge box filled with hairspray, nail varnish remover, cotton wool pads, eye make up remover, bubble bath etc etc.

Cosy PJs, fluffy socks and an eye mask/hot water bottle with fluffy cover.

I can probably think of more ideas, if any of these sound on the right lines!

Benefit perfume, (lots of indie kids like Ed Hardy though)

Really lovely pen.

Tickets to see Example (or some indie band!)

Leather bound journal/nice stationery.

VoldemortsNipple · 30/11/2011 09:12

I've also ordered DD I beautiful hand crafted necklace from www.etsy.com It's
heart shaped and has a Harry Potter quote inside (Always, said Snape) and a charm of a silver doe. I know DD will love this.

Etsy is great for all manner of quirky gifts and art. If you know her interests, its well worth having a look.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 30/11/2011 15:48

That sounds amazing VN. I'm an Etsy virgin but never thought of looking on there for HP stuff.

VoldemortsNipple · 30/11/2011 18:31

Oh Remus its fantastic. They have a golden snitch (well, brass) that opens and says "I open at the close" that I really really want. When I saw the pendant with Snapes quote, it brought a lump to my throat. Just type Harry Potter into the search bar on Etsy home page.

Whatevertheweather · 30/11/2011 21:05

Oh Voldermorts you've just opened up a whole new world of shopping. I hadn't heard of Etsy. It's fab! Oh dear.....
