Ideas for DH advent calendar please?!

Hi, you'll probably think I'm mad, but am making Advent Calendars for DS AND DH this year! Would like to add a hand written note for each day suggesting an 'activity', such as 'drink mulled wine', 'have a hot choc in beach cafe', 'make shortbread' (they love cooking), the sort of stuff we'd probably do anyway, but that would give them a goal for the day. Lots of ideas for DS, but a bit short on inspiration for DH. Any ideas gratefully received! :)

Wow - I'm impressed! I'm sure you can double up on a few!

drink a Christmas beer
decorate the house
make paper chains
a walk in the country
a pub lunch
try a new recipe
take silly photos
dressing up
something x-rated?

Are there any jobs you'd secretly like to get done?
eg charity shop run?

Ooh, thanks Blue, some fab ideas there. I particularly like the pub lunch :) and the taking silly photos. I have got a (slightly) x-rated one in mind! ;)

Any more suggestions most welcome! :)

You could always pick a couple of pubs & run that one twice (or more)
swap underpants for a day?
go to the seaside

freakydeaky · 29/11/2011 20:14

The multiple pub idea sounds great! :)
Not sure about swapping underpants.....although would certainly be 'different!'
We actually live at the seaside, so maybe I should exploit that a bit more, think we tend to take it for granted - shame on us!
Will check out things to do on the town website, obviously it's aimed at visitors but it's handy to see it from another perspective.
Thanks, Blue, you've got me thinking.... x

I love that idea!

both go for a mani/pedi!
romantic bath/massage night
outdoor wintry bbq - lots of blankets, mulled wine, marshmallows
trip somewhere on the train
trip to a flea market - your own family bargain hunt challenge with a fiver

Wish I had thought of this I have just spent a fortune filling my DH's calendar with lots of little presents.

How about day 24 - prepare the veg for Christmas day.
Take a walk in the woods
Build a den

freakydeaky · 30/11/2011 12:33

Thank you!

Wonderwooman, I've got a candlelit bath on the list already, will add a massage, thanks! And I love the wintry bbq idea...might even do it on the beach :)

Uglymush, I've really enjoyed putting it all together and it hasn't cost much at all so far, maybe remember it for next year! And I'll definitely get him on veg prep on day 24, with Christmas carols and dancing in the kitchen :) Think I'll put the walk in the woods near the beginning while the weather's still good....

Thanks all, I've been out this morning and bought tissue paper, raffia, and little clothes pegs to hang the day's parcel with. Just hope the RL result looks like what's in my head! :)

What a lovely idea!

BlueChampagne · 30/11/2011 12:42

Hah - you could challenge him to a Christmas day swim!

freakydeaky · 30/11/2011 17:05

Thanks Mrs H! :) It's looking quite good so far, and it's been lovely to have some suggestions from other Mumsnetters - I don't post very often so it's really nice to get replies!

Blue - we live by the sea, and there's a mad brave group of swimmers who actually have a Christmas Day race IN THE SEA every year!!!!!!! I'm not one of them!! Brrrrrrrrrr..... :)

I hope he enjoys it as much as you have. If you don't mind I will steal your idea for next year.

freakydeaky · 30/11/2011 17:36

Feel free to steal away! Can send you details of what I ended up with, and how it looks, if you'd like me to :)

That would be great - thanks. As I am on Mat leave for 6 months next year I think what I did this year will be too expensive so your way sounds just as much fun at a percentage of the cost. Thank you
