What the chances of snow?

Here in Darkest Essex we had snow the last couple of years before Christmas.

I know it's a pain, it's dangerous, inconvenient and costs the econmy millions of pounds in lost production.
Not to mention the hassel of closed schools- and waiting for the text to say if the school's open.

But, secretly, a tiny part of me wants snow for Christmas.

So far, doesn't look likely.

in scotland we apparently have a 40% chance of a white christmas. A far cry from last christmas. The kids might even make it to their pantomime this year (missed it due to the snow last year!)

2 years ago we drove up to Central Scotland to see family for New Year.
On the way up my windscreen washer bottle got used up. Garage didn't have any windscreen wash, but they gave me warm water to refill.
I tried 3 garages on the way. None.
My dad had some diluted wash (he doesn't drive much, certainly not in snow)
I had to borrow some from my cousin until finally I got some from Halfords and topped up.

On the way back my temp in the car was -10 C [shock).
Whole world just seemed to grind to a halt.

My mam always says that if it snows on her birthday it will be a white Christmas, but if it doesn't, there's hardly any chance of snow at Christmas. It was her birthday on Tuesday just gone, and not a flake of snow was there to be seen...

Oh and we're in Hartlepool, on the north east coast of England.

OOh Pom I'm 20 mins up the road from you and we had a random half an hour snow this week - really can't remember the day but could have been Tuesay! Was 12 degrees on the car when I got home at 4.30, went back to the car about an hour later and there was slush on the car and doormat etc!! - Not really proper snow but still....does that count?? Grin

Just coz I have 4 winter tyres ready to pop on, non-slip snow boots bought from Mountain Warehouse and a HellyHansen ski jacket from TKMaxx it will be the mildest winter in history Grin

I'm doing the work (and spending the money) to save you all!

Now we are fully prepared this year it probably won't snow.

This morning last year we woke up to snow and were snowed in for a good couple of days and were completely unprepared!

Just marking my place in a sadly excited way.
